Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Melo has the skills to be outstanding but he's basically the same player he was his rookie season. He just shoots a little more now.

Easy for the ball to move when guys are hitting shots. Of course the ball is going to stick when Melo's teammates go cold and keep bricking.

Other than JR, the teammates weren't cold though.

Note one specific game - the entire 2013 post-season.

Melo and JR's supporting cast had 46 points on 40 shots a game. What more do you expect from them on offense?

The problem is JR is part of the supporting cast.

Agreed; Melo should have been looking to get others more involved but he either can't or doesn't want to.

This really says it all:

Supporting cast FG% in 2nd round:
Durant: .390
Melo: .400 (including JR)

Assists per game:
Durant: 7
Melo: 1

So you want him to be a point forward?

Makes no sense. I thought it was the PG's job to get others more involved?

Your asking Melo to defer to his teammates and his teammates are being told by the coach to get the ball to Melo.

Melo wasn't missing Felton.

He had a coach who wanted him to play the right way and he refused to give it a fair shot. That doesn't excuse Melo. It's part of the problem.

Point forward? No. You see no middle ground between ball-stopper and point forward or are you just being obtuse?

Sure, Felton got 4.7 assists a game and might have taken 1 or 2 assists away from Melo. If Melo had come out to around 4 or 5 assists a game, no one would be calling him a ball-stopper. Even when Westbrook (who commands the ball much more than Felton does) was healthy, Durant was not a ball-stopper. I'm sure you know this. You know that Felton is not the reason Melo is a ball-stopper.

Nice rounding Melo's #'s down and Durant #'s up.

Durant Assists Playoffs per game:
2010 2.3
2011 2.8
2012 3.7
2013 6.3

Melo Assists Playoffs per game:
2004 2.8
2005 2.0
2006 2.8
2007 1.2
2008 2.0
2009 4.1
2010 3.3
2011 4.8
2012 2.2
2013 1.6

No a big difference to me.

Melo ISNT a passer...hes a gunner...but thats ok...so was kobe and MJ...you can WIN with gunners. The problem is since hes SO one dimensional he needs A LOTTTTTT of help. he needs guys who can create for themselves or others cuz melo cant do that. it is what it is. Not worth talking about passing or assists...thats not melo's game. Hes a finisher, a gunner

Your #s are incorrect. You must have missed the bold part above. The assists are 1.3 and 6.6 and the rounding should be self-explanatory.

Melo does all of those but at a below average level.
