We know woodson likes to play vets. then vets is what we will give him, just not any 40 yr olds

Stephen Jackson (35) can still defend and knock down shots. would be great coming off the bench like in san Antonio
Ron Artest (33) will most likely get amnestied, solid defender, can guard/annoy other teams best player
Mike Dunleavy (32) the guy can shoot with the best of them, makes novak tradeable
Michael Beasley (24) not very liked in phoenix. bit of a head case but can play 3/4,decent shooter, spaces the floor for melo
Kris Humphries (28) prior to kim-k drama, guy was a double double machine. Can rebuild his image here
Dahntay Jones (32) gritty defender(see kobe Bryant), local guy
Andray Blatche (26) will probably want money because of his productive yr in bk, but i'd go after him
Josh Mcroberts (26) Solid player, hustle type.
Matt Barnes (33) Great defender, runs the floor , would solidfy the bench
Francisco Garcia (32) Not totally convinced, but could be had for cheap
Earl Clark (25) another big body, who when given playing time, can put up nice numbers
Jermaine o neal (34) would be a great back up for chandler, nice mid range game
Dejuan Blair (24) in SA doghouse, would be great to come to NY and shine here, promise him big mins
Tracy Mcgrady (33) on a minimum contract, wouldn't mind having him back

Stephen Jackson thinks he's a starting Guard. Popovich thinks otherwise. Pop knows best.

Ron Artest - washed up. Done

Dunleavy - done. Wow, did not know he was that old

Beas - Wont be liked here and is a headcase - pass

Hump - disappears when needed. plays big versus knicks. pass

Jones - nice 8th man.

Blatche. Headcase. pass

McRoberts - if he is getting let go by the Pacers, pass

Matt Barnes - solid pick up, but clips want him back

Garcia - he's another 8th man

Earl Clark - good player, but not good enough to make a difference past Indy or Miami

J Oneal - he's done

Blair - good regular season player, not a good post season player. he has no cartilage in his knees. he'd come here and be amare (always out)

T mac - he's young, and done.

another list that should be made is the "Vet who gets paid alot and will pay for the mini vet salary since hes still getting paid"

I like this list though so ill give my 2 cents:

Stephen Jackson (35) = spot up shooter with a bad attitude...PASS
Ron Artest (33) = spot up shooter who cant shoot with a bad attitude...PASS
Mike Dunleavy (32) = soft player who can shoot...no defense though...PASS
Michael Beasley (24) = problem child with talent...id take a chance...GO FOR IT
Kris Humphries (28) = underated rebounder ...GO FOR IT
Dahntay Jones (32) = one dimensional defender but we need scoring..PASS
Andray Blatche (26) = i wanted him last yr...he can score...GO FOR IT
Josh Mcroberts (26) = bum..PASS
Matt Barnes (33) = great defender who can shoot the 3...GO FOR IT
Francisco Garcia (32) = one-dimensional spot up shooter...GO FOR IT
Earl Clark (25) = great player with potential...out of our price range...GO FOR IT
Jermaine o neal (34) = nooooooooooooooooooooo...PASS
Dejuan Blair (24) = great fit, rebounder and hardworker...GO FOR IT
Tracy Mcgrady (33) = noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...PASS
Reggie Evans = great rebounder...one dimensional...GO FOR IT

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Stephen Jackson (35) can still defend and knock down shots. would be great coming off the bench like in san Antonio - Washed up and got cut in favor of McGrady

Ron Artest (33) will most likely get amnestied, solid defender, can guard/annoy other teams best player - Washed up

Mike Dunleavy (32) the guy can shoot with the best of them, makes novak tradeable - Nice player, definitely worth a shot. Could see him as a good guy off the bench and maybe even starting at the 3 depending on what goes on with our backcourt.

Michael Beasley (24) not very liked in phoenix. bit of a head case but can play 3/4,decent shooter, spaces the floor for melo - I'd take a chance on him. Definitely a head case but a talented one. I'd worry about him imploding being in NYC but we're going to need to take chances on guys like these if we're going to be a title contender.

Kris Humphries (28) prior to kim-k drama, guy was a double double machine. Can rebuild his image here - Poor man's David Lee. Wouldn't mind but he's making $12M and is under contract next season so I don't know how he gets here.

Dahntay Jones (32) gritty defender(see kobe Bryant), local guy - Meh

Andray Blatche (26) will probably want money because of his productive yr in bk, but i'd go after him - I wanted to go after him last Summer and my opinion hasn't changed. Would immediately improve our front court and provide desperately needed depth.

Josh Mcroberts (26) Solid player, hustle type. - Not a bad backup plan if we can't get Blatche.

Matt Barnes (33) Great defender, runs the floor , would solidfy the bench - Good bench guy but I would imagine the Clippers will make it a priority to resign him.

Francisco Garcia (32) Not totally convinced, but could be had for cheap - Bench warmer

Earl Clark (25) another big body, who when given playing time, can put up nice numbers - Backup plan to McRoberts.

Jermaine o neal (34) would be a great back up for chandler, nice mid range game - If we're desperate but I don't trust our training staff to keep him healthy.

Dejuan Blair (24) in SA doghouse, would be great to come to NY and shine here, promise him big mins - Only on a vet minimum. Getting buried in San Antonio is scaring me off.

Tracy Mcgrady (33) on a minimum contract, wouldn't mind having him back - Lol, don't see that happening.

ESPN has kris Humphries listed as a free agent as of this yr, no options
I would take a chance on Beasley, maybe woodson gets thru to him.
And as far as O'Neal goes, Our medical staff sucks @$$, they cant keep anyone healthy so I get ur point

I've looked a couple of places, including ESPN, and they all say he's under contract for next season. I'd take Jermaine O'Neal in an instant if I trusted our medical staff.

Have you seen how Jermaine O'Neal play recently? I think I can do better job than him now. Sorry, but his injuries pretty much made him a thing of the past.

Agreed. He's one of the 10 worst players in the league.

that is just too small, they would get eaten up.. take a look around in the east... look at the front line Indy has.. look at the front line the nets have.. look at the front line the Bulls have.... how would they be great next to each other? if Dwight Howard goes to the rockets, I would be trying to find a way to get Asik.. but do we want to deal with the rockets? they tend to just kill us in deals... might have to involve another team, especially if they get Howard and are motivated to move asik..

That is the exact same height at the 3/4 as the teams you listed.

so basically you are ok with williams(who is a tweener ) at PF, vs DAvid west, or boozer? we already seen the struggles defensively carmelo had at PF, so how is this option any better? who plays PF for the knicks.. Williams plays more like a SF, he is 6'8... boozer is a big 6'9, DAvid west is a stout 6'9..

Not opposed to any of the guys on this list, as long as it's only one of them.

Most i feel are unattainable though.

David West and Boozer are closer to 6'8 and from the look of things Melo has played West the best banging with a bum shoulder. WIlliams is a good 250 and at 21 is still maturing. He is nearly the same size as Boozer and West. He just needs to grow as a defender and overall player.

Also, this is about young talent and if the Knicks had the opportunity to get a young piece who has shown signs of developing why not.

Wrong about West slightly he measured 6'8 without shoes but is taller with shoes. Very surprised to see his wingspan. Always liked him though. However, it looks like Williams just needs a thicker shoe like boozer wears, apparently. WIlliams needs to keep improving his fitness and grow into his man body.

The guys bolded are the only ones I could see being open to the vet min and I think that's the main sticking point for what will happen this offseason. Artest - because he's insane and would wanna be here and I, for one, would happily welcome him. Guys like Earl Clark and Blatche are going to get some coin and McGrady should just be removed from that list all together. I honestly believe Dahntay Jones hates Melo's guts and would never come here to be the 3rd SG.

I'd be very happy if we came away with Blair/Evans and Artest and maybe we wouldn't get pushed around so much next year. Try and resign KMart or Cope (can't see how we keep both, maybe either after paying JR) and draft a PG and backup big, if a 2nd rounder can be acquired.

Doesn't seem too unrealistic.

I believe we can offer Kenyon $1.6M without dipping into the MLE, if he wants more than that he can walk and try to find a better deal somewhere else. And I think we'd have to trade a player to get a 2nd rounder since I believe we won't be able to send cash in a trade until after the draft.

However, it looks like Williams just needs a thicker shoe like boozer wears, apparently. WIlliams needs to keep improving his fitness and grow into his man body.

so what you are saying is that you would put williams, who is a tweener, and clearly closer to a SF in size and style of play at the PF? how would that benefit the knicks? just asking..

I am not going to get into draft day measurements.. I look with my own eyes, and when i see David west post up carmelo, it looks like a mismatch and it is a mismatch.. I don't see that being any different with Derrick williams..
