Is the big lineup. It hasn't shown to be effective but then it really hasn't seen significant time together and hasn't had a training camp together really.

C - Non neck and flu Chandler from 2 years ago to anchor the D

PF - Amare who can hit a jumper or post up

SF - Melo who should still have a strength advantage against other SFs

SG - Breakout year for Shump

PG - Felton adequate for the position.

It's a longshot but it avoids having a Prigs/Felton backcourt where we are defensively compromised and don't really have the ability to drive and dish anyway. It lets the backcourt have 2 guards who can penetrate and initiate the offense. We may even be able to run a little bit with this lineup. Love Prigs but he is pretty slow. It's sucess is contingent on Shump with a training camp being able to be a decent distributor. We already know Felton is limited in that role.

It adds some rebounding up front and avoids Melo getting ground into dust by bigger PFs. Since Melo plays ~40 minutes you aren't going to be able to have Amare and Melo not play together.

This lineup's sucess is contingent on 3 of the guys having better seasons but with no cap flexability and few trade options(I don't think you try and trade CHandler at the lowest point of his trade value) it's really the only thing we can do besides repeating the same thing as last year, but this time with a healthy Rose, Rondo and Granger in our conference.

knicks need to find a way to wrest rondo from the celtics. the celtics may be broken up and be looking to rebuild.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

No way C's ever give the Knicks Rondo. We have nothing they'd want anyway besides Shump.

You just have to forge a 3 or 4 team deal if you don't have enough talent to make it work. Personally, I think this has a shot of getting it done: Tyson Chandler (and possibly JR Smith) to the Clippers; Eric Bledsoe, DeAndre Jordan and Raymond Felton to the Celtics; Rajon Rondo and a $5 million trade exception to the Knicks.

Trading big for small is bad for business. We have no clue if Rondo will come back as the same player. What bigs are we going to have to compete if we trade Chandler for Rondo? Bad move.

If the Cs' are really blowing it up, could we outright sign Garnett? He's an buttwad but he'd be our buttwad.

If there wasn't a risk on our part, we'd have no shot at getting Rondo for that package. This is the perfect opportunity to buy low IMO. If healthy, you can't make any argument about Chandler affecting the game more than Rondo could.

He'd probably retire at that point.

SO THE Clippers get screwed? if you are short on assets to trade, it doesn't matter if you involve 25 teams, someone will get screwed..... the knicks will have to find a way to sweeten the pot, and I don't see how that is possible..

The Clippers have expressed trading both Bledsoe and Jordan for Garnett. I'd find it hard to believe that it would be far-fetched for them to trade for a guy 7 years his junior and who is best friends with their franchise player.

As for your "short on assets" bit, plenty of trades have been made where a certain team leverages other teams' assets to get a seemingly unattainable talent. Do you think Rudy Gay was worth Tayshaun Prince or Jose Calderon?

actually stats shows that the big lineup with amare was extremely effective. I think +9. it also rebounded very well. The only problem with amare and melo is playing them at the 4 or 5 together.

Amari and chandler playing together is the problem...Cope spreads the floor for amari or chandler pick and rolls...

it's not a problem because Amar'e is good at moving without the ball and cutting back door or down the lane plus Melo actually pass him the ball when he cuts.

Amare is really good at looking good in a suit, too. For the majority of each of the last two or three seasons, actually.

I completely agree, but having the big lineup limits Melo's options, specifically to post and drive to the bucket because the lane is clogged. If Amar'e gets back to hitting his jumper and understanding when to clear out, then I think it'll work.

Like you implied, we don't really appear to have a ton of options so this seems to be the best bet. JR comes off the bench and hopefully we draft a nice backup PG (Larkin) and get some depth at the 4/5 because KMart is likely to cash in this summer. We should swing a deal of Prigs for DeJuan Blair.
