I think we can use a point guard, that can guard perimeter players, handle the ball, explosive to the hole and push the tempo. Best of all, I think he's already on the team.

SHUMPERT!

he started his rookie yr at the point but then MDA didnt like the way the PNR offense was run. Even though we STILL run alot of PNR, our offense basically consists off - "feed melo, if doubled shoot the 3". I think this is what the knicks have in mind and i think thats why theyre sending him to the summer league to improve. From what I remembered he had handle, defense but it was his decision making. I think this can be worked on. He already plays alot of PNR and hes "wiser" now that hes a 3rd yr pro.

thoughts? (hey im just trying to be creative - CP3 is NOT coming here. LOL)

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I always looked at Shumpert as a "combo" guard, someone that can play both the point and 2 guard. Heck he plays the 3 right now.

If he can improve his finishing ability around the hoop, I think him and Felton would make a solid interchangeable backcourt.

Enough with the small lineups, We gotta go back to a traditional lineup. Seeing us getting killed on the boards sends the message loud and clear. Hopefully we can get a solid banger in free agency for the 4 spot.

If Melo had great play-making skills we could get away with Shumpert at PG but he's more of a combo guard or even SG/SF combo. He's so far away from being a PG that I wouldn't expect it to happen. The problem is that Felton also is more of a combo guard than a PG.

can SHump learn to pass, finish, at the rim, and become a better shooter first. Also, his shooting rose so much after he moved off of PG duties. He went from low 30% to shooting 40%. I think people forgot how bad Shump was. He would come off the pnr and jack up shots worst than Raymond Felton. Dude can barely beat 4s off the dribble right now. I like Shump but he is a sg to me.

Shumpert's shooting improvements make him am ideal SG. I think we can draft a good shooting PG like Larkin, Canaan, or Wolters and have our backcourt of the future. I also believe Shumpert is the key to this team's improvement as he is the best homegrown prospect we have had in a long time and he and Melo are the foundation of this team moving forward.

If CJ McCollum falls in the draft I'd like to see the Knicks figure out a way to get him, but he's far from a sure thing and considering Curry's success he might get taken higher than he would normally

Like yellowboy said he couldn't even expose the David West matchup. How is he going to be an effective pg facing much quicker players? I can't see it.

I think he's closer to an undersized SF or an SG - depending on whether he can become a consistent shooter.

He shot over 40% from 3 during the regular season and playoffs. I would consider him to be a consistent shooter, or very close to it. It's not easy shooting 40%.

his jumper has def improved...its not that im worried about...its his decision making and thats what a PG needs. If he had that then he be great at PG. but everyone here is right, hes not a pass first player..he attacks the rim.

No doubt he's a 2 guard and will be a very good one.

That's only 150 shots, which means he made about 10 more than expected.

he shot over 40 since 20 games into his rookie year. Also, there was an article out during the year how most players shoot better in their second year after surgery. add to that he shoots an even higher percentage from the corner and its a start.

He doesn't have the handle to be a PG, and I don't think he has the vision.

We need someone that can get the ball over the half court line with more than 16 seconds left on the shot clock. That shouldn't be too hard to find in either the late first round or second round.

He needs to show that he can break down defenses if he wants to be a PG.
