"People say I don't like the Knicks, but I think that's really unfair," Barkley says in New York City on Monday afternoon. He is sitting on the third floor of an upscale Manhattan hotel to promote the CBS/Turner Sports coverage of the upcoming NCAA Tournament and taking questions from a collection of national media about the NBA and the college game. "Listen, I never have any preconceived notions. What I said about the Knicks is, No. 1, they are too old to stay healthy; No. 2, you can't keep shooting threes like that, and they don't rebound the ball. I said that in November. I said that in December. I said that in January and February. Now everything I said is coming true, and people are like, 'Well, I guess you were right.' Listen, I don't know anything about anything in the world but basketball. I never have a hidden agenda. I would love to see the Knicks do well. It would be great for the NBA. But they could not keep that pace up."

So how far can the Knicks go, Charles?

"They can't get past the second round," said Barkley. "I'm not sure they can get past the first round with or without [Amar'e Stoudemire]. It's going to depend on the matchup. I have said all along I think Indiana is the second-best team in the East. They have no chance if Carmelo [Anthony] is not healthy. Zero. They have a fighting chance to win a first round series if he is healthy, but I don't see them getting past the second round."

i think barkley is one of the most astute basketball minds around. he called out dirk years ago about not having a low post game, dirk listened and got himself a post game, and has a title to show for it. there is a reason he wins emmys and it's not because he is a "character." frankly i think shaq has an astute mind as well. i like that crew a lot. another favorite of mine is jon barry.

you know you're good when the majority of knick fans hate you.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

I like charles, he is willing to say what most are thinking. I see him around town a lot, my wife works in the same building where they shoot their show...

On real gm, I made a thread about dirk, and it had to do with dirk needing to take the ball to the hoop if he is to win a title.. i was called a dirk hater, that is until dirk started going to the hoop and he won a title...

Shaq is very basketball smart as well, and he is funny, he adds to that show..

I like charles and don't mind when he hates on us becuase we have been worth of his scorn. Homers don't get that and take it personal.

Dude is never 100% correct, nor is anyone else. I don't like what he said about us not getting thru the 2nd round and the pacers being better.

Charles has to be more supportive towards and more incorrect about the Knicks in order to get credit here.

he predicted the knicks demise months ago and gave clear reasons. then his prediction came to fruition and he gets crapped on. what a hoot. maybe if the knick franchise listened to someone who has sagacity and prescience like he does they would have genuine success.

and it's never melo's fault he did his job his teammates just didn't step up. ten years and counting.

He got some stuff right but he doesn't like the Knicks. He isn't that prepared. Couldn't pronounce Luol Deng's name most recently. Deng is one of the best small forwards in the east.

Barkley said he knows this for a fact because he had private discussions with gay teammates who hadn't come out publicly. “I had several [gay] teammates, I probably had three guys I played with in my 16 years," he said.

Why were they so comfortable talking to you about their sexuality while still playing Chuckie Cheese ?

He also said the Nets would have a better record than the Knicks and that didnt come to fruition. He doesnt like the Knicks. He only talks up the Nets because he doesnt like the Knicks. Im not a fan of that.
