Amar’e Stoudemire knows his contract won’t allow him to go anywhere and he wants Mike Woodson to make a commitment to make a frontcourt of Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler work.

"We never gave it a chance,” Stoudemire said after Indiana’s 106-99 victory eliminated the Knicks from the postseason. “So I think just the opportunity of allowing them to understand exactly what my style of play is and what I bring to the table is something that I think I’m going to have to sit down with Coach Woody and express to him.”

Stoudemire, who had knee surgery in October and again in March, was limited to 29 regular-season games and four in the postseason. He came off the bench in all 33 games and became a forgotten man in Games 5 & 6 against Indiana as Woodson elected to bench the $100 million forward in the second half of both.

“It’s tough, it’s tough,” he said. “It’s never easy to sit there and watch. But again, it’s Coach’s decision.”

I think he said that after the game. I thought Woodson was a standup guy trying to integrate him back into the rotation in the playoffs. The easy thing to do would have been to tell him to wait until next year.

Amare must be delusional. I mean he wants to blame Woodson? Try staying healthy for a complete season Amare. The coach cant pencil someone into the lineup who is ALWAYS injured. Amare sounds like a dam fool.

Amare has been talking and not back it up since he came to NY.

These are the personalities Woodson has to contend with.

If it was ANY other coach, Amare would not get any minutes period.....
Copeland was obviously needed and Amare was not healthy to play in the play offs

I applaud the effort by going to Hakeem's school for post OFF

But

he has to continue to work on these moves and take basketball IQ 101 for DEFENSE/REBOUNDING/SHOT BLOCKING/BOXING OUT/FIGHTING for position

He must either be a average DEF or a good REBOUNDER for OFF boards and DEF boards
It would be great if he could a solid REB and DEF, but if he just added one of those and could stay healthy, it would be much easier to find him playing time
Even if it just 24mins a game, it would greatly help, if he can't do 2/3 with scoring then it would be hard to find even 15minutes for him per game

He has to get back some speed/quickness/work on his foot work/coordination
Pick a position in which you can defend the best and you will find minutes, if not it will be hard to get you any meaningful minutes
He currently cannot defend a PF or a C, while any starting caliber PF/C can eat him up 1v1
I am not sure if he should try to work on a 3point shot to add to his arsenal, to just use when he is WIDE OPEN

Amare couldn't stay healthy through camp and the preseason. He played 39 games in limited minutes and needed another surgery. The guy can't and hasn't been able to stay healthy. The doctors in Phoenix knew this and the Suns would not give him a long term deal because of this. He isn't and won't ever be the guy he was for his first half season in NY. If the Knicks get really lucky maybe they can get 20 mins a night out of him in a reserve role if they sit him on back to backs and have him continue to do all his training in the pool.

What hypocritical statement are you referring to with Melo?

Whatever. In one year his name will basically be changed from "amare" to "amare's expiring contract"

He has a lot of pride and it's tough to balance that when your body is failing you. Don't know why people take offense to it- it's tough for him.

Why? What front office method of making decisions in the last 20 years why leave you suprised. Forget the names, just the facts?

Your loved team consistantly makes bad decisions.

Don't have to believe me, look at the record.

Why is this not fair? I think this is the truth. I hate that he hasn't been able to stay healthy for 2 seasons, but the best chance for the Knicks to compete for the title is Amare staying healthy and integrating with Melo. We haven't had an opportunity to assimilate them for an extended period of time and I really think we have to get it done. We have no choice really.

I hope this is just possible given his health. one can only hope its a trend that can be reversed!

There was a plan, It would be great to see it thru. It might not work, but its a plan!
