I think this Knicks team can win a championship, but we need to do some addition by subtraction. We need to move on past JR Smith. The guy is too inconsistent. I would rather a backup guard that gives me consistent average performance, than a guy that swings from potential All-Star to total dud on a regular basis. The effort he brought in Game 6 was shameful. I am not even talking about his offense. He consistently let guys beat him back door for easy buckets and did not play with the same intensity as everyone else. I would rather we go after OJ Mayo or Lance Stephenson, or Gary Neal, or Marco Belinelli as our backup SG. I would rather pay them $4 mil per season than JR Smith.

Next, we have got to get a young PG and a young PF/C. We need to let Campby go. I also have serious concerns about Kidd. He is a great leader, but to go the full series without scoring is worrisome. Our best hope may be that Kidd decides to retire. Otherwise, we probably have no choice but to bring him back.

I think if you replace JR Smith with a more consistent and committed player, like a Neal or Belinelli, this team improves from addition by substraction. I expect Shumpert to take his game to the next level and become that second or third scoring threat we need.

Additionally, Woodson needs to stop playing Melo as a 4. Melo can score against anyone, we don't need him getting beat up all season trying to guard PFs. Instead, we need to resign Copeland and tell him to bulk up 10 lbs because we are going to play him at the 4. Let Martin/Amare/Copeland hold down the 4 spot, and move Melo back to the 3 spot. (Obviously, we need to resign Martin). I think this would improve our rebounding/defense and save Melo from alot of wear and tear. We need to use small ball as a change of pace and not our main strategy.

Were over the cap so that means we only have $3mil to spend this offseason

I agree with letting JR go but we have his Birds rights. So were allowed to go over the cap to sign him at 5mill (max)

Were only allowed to buy free agents who will sign for minimum wage (that means half retired players, or unproven young hdden talent)

we could make trades (tyson) but everyone else isnt a good asset to trade

you cant force anyone (kidd or camby) to retire

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I agree about JR. The problem with him is that he's not a reliable second option and he doesn't dedicate himself to the game. Woodson treated him like the second guy all year out of necessity and it predictably failed in the playoffs. We either let him walk or sign him to a reasonable deal representative of a bench role. We need a reliable second option.

I think we'd go a long way by trading Chandler for whatever we can get. He's a total zero on offense and the most overrated defender I've ever seen.

We'll hear a lot of CP3 talk, but it's a pipe dream. We're not getting any more stars. We need to build depth.

I'm most excited for Shump to have a full offseason of work. He can really be a star.

We can probably get a Stephenson or Neal for $3 mill per year. I know we cannot force Camby or Kidd to retire, but we can cut them, which is what I suggest we do with Camby to open that spot up for a young PF.

JR Smith at 5 million is a keeper. He just needs to realize he is a bench player. If he wants to start he can kick rocks.

I agree the Knicks need to acquire a young PG and young PF/C.

if we cut them were still responsible for paying them on our cap
Gary Neal? hes gonna make this team better?
i dont know man...i dont know

-im probably biased now cuz im frustrated by the loss...i admit that but i dont think lance or neal will put us over the top

The good news is I think we can address the PG and big man with our draft pick and the taxpayers MLE.

I know Lance torched us, but lets pump the breaks for a minute. We have a much better version of him in Iman.

Lance cannot shoot worth a lick. He shot at least 3 airballs in game 6. He can't shoot. He can only drive to the lane like a running back and make layups. He wont get away with that against other teams. He beasted on us because of JR's poor defense and Woody's poor coaching.

tell your team to lay oof Lance in the half court and get in front of him in the full court.
