We don't have a lot of flexibility, but we do have a little. Ultimately, I think we hang on to Copeland, JR Smith, Prigioni. We need another big body (6'10"+) and another point guard or combo guard. We have a draft pick. Can we draft a guard there? What big is available that we can get? Is Josh Harrellson a possibility?

Keepers:
C-Tyson Chandler
PF-Kenyon Martin
PF-Amar'e Stoudemire
PF/SF-Carmelo Anthony
SF-Chris Copeland
SG-JR Smith
SG-Iman Shumpert
PG-Pablo Prigioni
PG-Ray Felton

Will probably wind up keeping if don't retire:
C-Marcus Camby
PG-Jason Kidd

Would like to trade if possible:
SF-Steve Novak
Perhaps we can trade Jason Kidd back to Dallas for a second rounder?

Past that, I think a few minor moves and better roles and we're in better shape.

For better or worse, our starting lineup is Chandler, Amar'e, Carmelo, Shumpert, Felton. Let's stop this small ball nonsense. It's not going to win in the playoffs. Shumpert needs to play 32 mpg. Smith should have a reduced role of 24 mpg. Second unit is C-??, PF-Kenyon, SF-Copeland, SG-Smith, PG-Prigioni. I think we're a lot more balanced if we can do that. Novak doesn't have a role here.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Grunwald is going to have to retool this summer considering Melo can opt out next summer.

If Melo opts out, it's because he wants another max $, max year deal. Melo showed he's all about the money when he made us give up a ton of assets just to get him here for max money. He's not going to skip out on max money. Risk: 0%.

(This is not a criticism of Melo's game, just fact.)

JR Smith wont return...He's saying "he wants to retire a knick" so that other teams will jack of the price for his services.
Tyson is trade bait because hes legit starting center.
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I don't believe that. I don't think teams will overpay for JR Smith, so in the end, he will be here. I don't think we're moving Tyson Chandler because there is no better option we're getting back. We're not rebuilding.

That was all Dolan's doing, not really fair to blame Melo for Dolan's negotiating 'skills'.

After a tough loss like this one and knowing there is nothing left to do with this run that just ended, I usually have a positive outlook.

Not this time. I just can't after this debacle.

Tyson Chandler dares to say the team is selfish. J.R. talked about how he was responsible for the 3-1 deficit. Amar'e dared guaranteeing a win over the Celtics without playing. They all talked about how they could beat the Heat. Even the coach talked.

All talk. This team ended up being all talk.

In the end, no matter how maligned and criticized he is, there was Melo stepping up once again, taking a beating by the Pacers to the joy of the reffs, it seemed, to keep us in the game. To keep the season alive.

There was young Shumpert at one point leading the way for a comeback and Copeland taking advantage of the playing time he got.

That was it. Only the often criticized star and the young players seemed to care for the end of our season.

It ended because a coach had no clue what strategy to use against the Pacers and during games was stubborn using ineffective players in heavy minutes when others were the ones keeping NY close. A successful team stopped playing like they did in the season. Iso basketball hurt a lit.

It ended because again the star was left with no supporting cast: Felton disappeared in the final games, Tyson never showed up and was an embarrassment, J.R. was the x factor but for the worse, Amar'e came back too late for too little. Kidd should retire as he was useless. Camby who?

In a perfect world, none, I mean NONE of them would come back.

Melo can lead us to a championship, but he needs help and he didn't get any this run. He also needs a coach with offensive vision and capable of making smart adjustments in a series.

Most realistic thing is that Kidd and Camby retire because they need to

Wait do we not have a 1st rd pick this year?

- If we do, I really hope we go with PG (Larkin) or a bruising big.

- If Woody stays, I think JR will as well. He really played himself outta big contract and it was sickening watching him get beat back door, not once but, twice last night and then not box his man out at the very end. Really could care less if he comes back, but think he does.

- Prigioni is as good as gone and I don't understand how any of you think he is actually going to stick around after Woody took so long during the regular season to get him in and then somehow pulled the same BS in this series. Mind boggling

- Cope is a RFA? Hope we resign him, but he is a replaceable Shawne Williams type, so not too worried there.

- If Kidd and Camby retire, the money still stays on the cap, right? Camby really got back at Dolan nicely and made himself look like a giant *****.

- Agree that a Tyson trade should be a top priority. He and JR were the scapegoats of this series, but he made Hibbert look like Shaq all series and it was a f'in joke.

Overall not feeling very optimistic about the future, but looking forward to seeing a full strength Shump next year. Love that guy.

I trust the knicks to look for a diamond in the rough.

2011-Shawne Williams
2012-Jeremy Lin
2013- Copeland and Prigioni

I trust them to look for someone who can contribute

Correct, we have our pick, 24, this year. Larkin, amongst other needs, like another swingman and big are amongst the type of players Grunwald will target.

I would not be surprised one bit if Tyson is being shopped around. Throwing the team under the bus in the middle of the playoffs guarantees that will be a possibility.
