We can not Amnesty Amare. Why did ESPN say that? Wow. They have no knowledge of the Amnesty provision.

It's not even relevant. Even if we could, it doesn't exactly leave us room under the cap to make moves. This along with the talk of amnestying Kobe and my eyes boggle. Is it a real consideration to amnesty one of the top 10 players of all time? Media nonsense.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Isn't Kobe supposed to make over 20 mil? Teams over the cap get fined an amount for dollars over the cap. It absolutely makes sense

$30 million actually. But they're not going to amnesty Kobe. I'm sorry, but it will never happen. It's not a realistic discussion. The argument for amnestying Kobe was getting under the cap to sign Chris Paul. Except it doesn't leave them enough under the cap to sign Chris Paul. If they amnesty Kobe, they don't make the playoffs. If anyone on the Lakers gets amnestied, it'd be Gasol ($20 million).

Amnestying Kobe makes sense if he isn't playing next season. He's only under contract that season so why pay luxury tax on a $30 million contract? They can easily re-sign him for the 2014-2015; no harm no foul. As for Amare, we should've saved our amnesty with him in mind but had no foresight.

Amare only had a hurt back, which he recovered from at the time. He had only played o e season as a knick and was an MVP candidate. They shouldn't have signed him in the first place but adding Tyson to melo amare made sense.

Even so, he was injury prone his entire career and it would only be a matter of time before it caught up to him. I think they actually though Toney Douglas was going to morph into Chauncy Billups' mini-me and be able to lead us to a title that year, making the gamble worth it. I could've told them that that wasn't happening, lol.

If you say he never should have been given that contract with his knees and the timeline that was given for his career, then I agree. He was a horrible signing. However, he dominated the season before Tyson came and seemed to symbolize the rebirth of b-ball in NYC. I don't think you can amnesty that guy one year in.

but wait, i thought the knicks wereNOT allowed to amnesty anyone until 2015-16
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

We can't amnesty anyone until the current CBA is over.
