Wrote it in one thread and I think it is worth discussing.
Is BBAL is still a sport in general or more an entertainment for TV junkies and addicts?

Knicks will produce record profits for the owner.
No matter who was behind this business decisions he is financial genius.
Winning the chip was not a goal and not even a side thought.
With this roster it is not possible under any consequences.
So as they succeed big they will continue with the same strategy - stars, drama, farther/son, old man heroics and young man maturation.
As a bonus we get 54 win season, set some records in odd and not so odd categories, win playoff series for a change..
So don't worry, be happy. Knocks is just another soap drama reality show, and very good at this.
As of me I stopped watching after 2nd loss to Boston. It was clear already what will come. The air went out of the balloon.

This whole "all Dolan cares about is money" thing is stupid. Not defending him, but I think he'd give away half the profits for a title. He's just a meddlesome, petulant owner.

DUDE, give us an effing break. Suggestion: If you not watching, don't bother posting, either. You are just being a NEG and distraction to those who still believe.

EXACTLY^

I think it has evolved from a sport where the objective was to win, into an entertainment spectacle where the goal is for Owners and Players to make money.

Dolan definitely wants to win (money doesn't seem to be an issue with him). If he didn't, he never would have followed David Stern's advice and hired Walsh. He would not have forced Walsh to pull the trigger on the trade. He definitely wants to win. I am in the minority in thinking he isn't nearly as bad as us fans (who can never be satisfied) think.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

I have my opinion and I am entitled to have one.
I have no issue with this team not winning the chip... just want to see quality bbal.
And most of the time I am not.
Even when this team wins it looks like some lucky charm.
If Dolan would be about winning he will not entertained the stupidity around this club leadership for last 15 years.
He is a businessman and the fact that he has a lot of money does not mean he do not want more.
Granted winning it all is profitable but need a lot of risky investments.
Instead we has very good results without any risk.
Win or lose Melo, Stat, JR, and other "names" will get the regular fan to spend.
Mix in some drama and you are golden.

This was the best performing season I have seen in over a decade. I am glad the Knicks made money. I think it is nonsense to say that winning the Championship isn't even a goal. That path runs through Miami and I think this team was constructed to compete with the Heat. The Heat are a monster team that will continue to pick up Veteran straphangers on the way and are tough to compete with. We beat them 3 out of 4 though. The season isn't over yet but this team performed well. They had their disappointments but all in all, they are a very good team that won their division. I'd love to see them pull it together to be the one's to challenge Miami this year. I think we are the hardest test for them out there.
You know I gonna spin wit it

I don't believe that Dolan is in this for the money; he's more like a spoiled child given an expensive toy to do with as he pleases. Everything I've read says that the money spent and made on ALL of Dolan's sports holdings, Knicks, Rangers, and MSG, is so minuscule compared to Cablevision as a whole that they might as well not be there.

Even if he did, he'd sure as hell want a title to make more money. The longer the Knicks are in the playoffs, the more tickets there are to sell. Not to mention the championship merchandise he can put out.
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

God forbid a team makes money when they go far. What are you even arguing? You want NBA owners to not make money for going far? Its a business after all.

People give Jimmy too much credit for being some great business man. His father built everything. He's just putting his hands in the operation of the Knicks way too much. Which is why everyone hates him, myself included.

But to think he doesn't care they are losing as long as he makes money is ridiculous.
