Usually I wish a world of shyt onto prick Kobe, but I generally feel terrible for him in this case.

CAMDEN, N.J. -- Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant says in a court filing that he never gave his mother permission to sell mementos from his high school days and early professional basketball career.

Bryant is in a court battle over whether hundreds of items can be auctioned off.

Pamela Bryant says her son told her the memorabilia was hers. She arranged earlier this year to auction it off through Berlin, N.J.-based Goldin Auctions and received a $450,000 advance.

Last week, lawyers for Kobe Bryant wrote to the auction house demanding it cease the June sale. Goldin is suing to assert its right to sell.

"I never told my mother that she could have my personal property, let alone consign it for public auction," Bryant wrote.

In a filing Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Camden, Kobe Bryant says his mother acknowledged to him recently that she did not have permission to sell the items.

"I confronted her about her false statement that I had given my memorabilia to her," Bryant wrote in the filing, which was seen by The Philadelphia Inquirer. "I said to her, 'Mom, you know I never told you that you could have the memorabilia.'

"Her response was, 'Yes, but you never said you wanted it, either.' Of course, this is untrue, since my wife and I requested that she return my memorabilia several years earlier."

Bryant was drafted into the NBA directly out of Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, Pa. His high school uniforms are among more than 50 items listed for June auction.

It's no secret that he's been at odds with his father in the past, but now his mother?

Just sad this feels like a money grab from Kobe's parents, but to try to sell your game worn jerseys from high school, your championship ring with the Lakers, all star memorabilia, etc seems so wrong.

He's earned everything he's done in this league through God given talent, hard work, and just a will to win.

For his mother to try to cash in on this, seems super petty.

This is Kobe Bryant we're talking about, of the $30 million/year and tons of endorsements. I'm sure his immediate family is taken care of.

Very sad to see fighting going on between family, especially the ones that raised you.

Guy is an immortalized SuperDuperStarLegend and he's squabbling over some plastic trinkets from his high school days,

shows again that money doesn't buy wisdom.

Shiet, I get pissed off too when my wife touches my man cave things or throws away belongings that I personally treasure.

It's one thing if she had permission over the estate or setup a charity auction with Kobe's consent, but from the looks of it, she's trying to make a major profit off of things that don't belong to her.

Don't blame Kobe for suing the auction house, one bit.

What a weird, sad story. I doubt that it's about the money; Kobe's father was a professional basketball player and he lived in Lower Merion, PA one of the richest towns in the country and Kobe is, of course, amazingly rich so I would imagine this is more vindictiveness on the part of his Mother than anything else.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

In an earlier story on this, it was stated that Kobe hasn't had the greatest of parental relations with either his mom or dad.

Sad.

There was lots of ugliness about what size house they wanted sonny boy to build for them in Nevada or something.

I'm not sure if you're serious here, what an absurd comparison

Kobe obviously treasures those belonging, and would rather give them to his children.

What's wrong with keeping memories you love, instead of having family pawn them off for profit without consent?
