Does the offensive foul arc mean anything now that Shaq is gone...should it go too?

This, as you may guess or may not guess, is based on the Melo's 5th foul today, wherein he drives into a player CLEARLY within the arc and gets called for an offensive foul. Based on the function of the arc, that should not happen and could play a big part in a team winning or losing a game. You take a star from four to five fouls and you've basically neutered him and his team.

Seriously, the officiating has been abysmal in general, but especially against the Knicks. I can't finish watching today's game and I'm okay if I miss an epic comeback if they win, but I can't stand to watch the game be so irreparably compromised by crappy officiating. One of the reason's I love Cuban as an owner is his willing to call it like it is and take the hit to the bank.

If I'm the commish, there's some serious retraining happening this off-season. I know you can't always blame the officiated, but it can be and sometimes it IS the main reason a team loses a given game.

Thank you for pointing that out. That foul on Melo made me really upset in the game. Damn it, need some competent refs up in here.

Bad call but, let's be honest, that's not what broke the donkey's hump today.

Not alone, but Melo getting to four fouls before the fourth and getting that as the fifth is HUGE part of the problem. Remember when you could play defense? Well Melo doesn't play nearly as hard as Ewing's Knicks did, but he's getting called like Bill Lambeer should have been, but never was. I thought the elites were supposed to get the whistles in their favors, but not so far in playoffs for Melo.

Really I just want consistency and obviously bad calls...well, there's no excuse for them.
