I think he probably did in Amare's first year. We had that one stretch before the trade rumors went into overdrive and we looked awesome (and Amare played 40+mpg ). I'm thinking he probably won coach of the month at that point.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

The same month people were saying he played Kobe too much and was responsible for the injury?

Agreed. Some of the criticisms are ridiculously unfair.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Not to mention that the refs had more to do with it than his coaching. He should have gotten co- coach of the month with Stern being the other half.

I don't see how he got it, considering he only just learned that Howard and Gasol could actually play together. The Lakers had a *GREAT* month, but they were supposed to be this good all along. I don't understand getting credit for something they should have been all along. BUt I guess you can't argue with the record. Yet, usually the GM doesn't have to come out and publicly support the coach in the same month his head coach wins coach of the month... very confused on this one

To be fair, when he said they couldn't, both players were moving around like they had anchors chained to their ankles. That situation has changed considerably.

I agree that team is dysfunctional and had a lot of injuries. But he still did a bad job. Some his rotations were ridiculously bad. That said, the ultimate blame for the Lakers season falls on Jim Buss.

In comparison, if you include preseason and the start of the season, Mike Brown went I think 1-17? Compared to that, D'Antoni did a admirable job. This was a poorly constructed roster that had major health problems. Still does, but this is the first time all season the bigs have been relatively healthy.

When you really think about it,
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

I agree. Against the warriors the lakers took 51 free throws to 16 for the warriors.

There is enough laker footage in playoff hype commercials to put together an entire episode of the association and they were showing it before the lakers qualified for the playoffs.

you can't even remember it, which is why that award doesn't mean anything.

Avery Johnson got fired shortly after winning the award. Similar to the Lakers, the NBA invested a lot in promoting that franchise. No way Woodson shouldn't have gotten coach of the month over Avery. Knicks weren't on, The Association.
