New York Knickerbockers Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations and General Manager Glen Grunwald announced today that the team has signed guard/forward Quentin Richardson for the remainder of the season.

Richardson, 6-6, 220-pounds, holds career averages of 10.3 points, on 39.8-percent shooting from the field and 35.5-percent shooting from three-point range, with 4.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists over 26.5 minutes in 782 games (486 starts) over 12 seasons with the L.A. Clippers, Phoenix, New York, Miami and Orlando. He has appeared in 31 postseason games (21 starts), averaging 8.5 points and 4.3 rebounds over 28.5 minutes.

The Chicago, IL-native, last played in the NBA for Orlando during the 2011-12 season, averaging 4.5 points and 2.6 rebounds over 18 minutes in 48 games (three starts). He returns to New York after spending four seasons with the Knicks (2005-09), averaging 9.7 points and 5.0 rebounds over 28.2 minutes in 241 games (206 starts).

Non-guaranteed contract to use in trades over the summer. That is the only reason he is still on the roster.

If we went for a G, would have prefered someone like PG/SG Keyon Dooling for his defense but he was signed by Grizzlies

I think it is more on James White then Iman, Woody loves Iman
We will be firing 3pointers away and a old but tough defender that can give about 10minutes or less

Think a player like Dooling that can hit the 3pointer but can play SOLID D, is younger, and can handle the ball/facilitate at 2 positions would make more sense as a GLUE player
vs
a 3point chucker/old undersized defender that has no more athleticism

I guess James Singleton could not get clearance
Woodson likes vets and I guess Q Rich falls in that catagory

Warrick/Leon Powe/Shawne Williams would have had more size to defend Lebron
with Warrick probably in the best shape out of all these players

I honestly think this was as short term of a move as there is, however. Someone needs to give minutes next game because it looked like there were a bunch of guys who set career highs in minutes played. I don't want the supporting cast to over extend itself and get injured in the postseason. So if he can give 25 minutes next game and then never play another minute in an NYK uni, I will be happy
