While i think his speed, defense and jumping is coming back, has any noticed that hes basically a spot up jump shooter now? His shot looks GREAT and he has good shooting form but he RARELY drives to the basket. Im sure its all part of the spread-out-and-take-3s offense but i wish he could do more..because he CAN.

what do others think?

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I would like him to keep doing what he is doing because although he may can drive to the basket he is not a great finisher. That will come next year hopefully after a complete offseason.

Since moving over to more of a wing player and not a point guard Shump has shot very well. He should still be around 39% from three over his last 70 games and he has shot a high percentage from 16-23 ft both years. So he can make that 1 or 2 dribble pull up if he gets pushed off the three point line.

He still needs a ton of work on his all around D but he is young.

Why drive when he us wide open. He isnt finishing well at the rim and his mid range pull up is far from automatic.

In a Interview he said all he did was work on his jump shot for months, it was the most inconsistant part of his game.

if it ain't broke don't fix it. let him keep draining from the corner and take on the tough defensive assignment.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

It is his role. Driving is left to Melo and JR. Shump is there for spacing

Everyone has a defined role. Every player is important

One thing I did notice in the thunder game, JR took more jump shots then he has since the streak started and i think it had more to do with Tyson being back

you cant bench tyson though. hes the defensive player of the yr, taller, and younger.

I don't think Shumpert is that good attacking the rim imo. He doesn't elevate well off of one leg.

Actually it's more about Durrant (6'10), Ibaka (6'11) and Perkins (6'11)

There's no room for JR to create against that team.

A defensive stopper who is a good outside shooter and a good passer? What more can you ask for? That's like the perfect 2-3 to play alongside Melo.

Give Shumpert time, takes a full year and change to regain explosiveness after ACL surgery. Derrick Rose hasn't even suited up this season!
