Everyone knows when the playoffs get here --- the roations shrink as does playing time.

Who should be in our rotation?

FELTON
PABLO
SHUMP
MELO
TYSON

JR
K MART
KIDD

and then MAYBE 1 more

COPE OR NOVAK ?

--- Teams usually go with only 8 -- How many will Knicks use?

OR

do we take out Pablo and start Kidd ?

I think they shouldn't mess with the starters unless it's to match Indiana with a big lineup.

FELTON
PABLO
SHUMP
MELO
TYSON

JR
K MART
KIDD
Cope
Novak
Sheed
STAT????
Camby
White

VS Indiana (if woody wants to match size):

FELTON
PABLO
MELO
KMart
TYSON

JR
SHUMP
KIDD
Cope
Novak
Sheed
STAT????
Camby
White

Cope and Novak should both get minutes but you also have to factor in one of Sheed or Camby...maybe even STAT, although I think everyone hopes if he comes back he's at the end of the bench so he doesn't mess with chemistry.

Dealing with these issues is a good problem to have if everyone is somewhat healthy. It just shows how deep we are. I think try to keep the rotation at 8-10 deep max, and if any of Cope/Novak/Sheed struggles you just play the starters as many minutes as necessary. Minutes go up in the playoffs.

misterearl --- who is the last team that played 10 or 11 guys and made a deep run in the playoffs? Has that happened in the last 20 years?

A. This Knicks season has the finish strong aroma of 1999. Defensive effort requires depth. The quick timeout an angry Coach Woodson called for the blown Shumpert assignment last night is just a preview of his focus.

A. Nope. We haven't had many coaches make defensive accountability mandatory.

But the players we are talking about don't play tough defense ---- Novak and Cope

Novak is a designated sniper. He is what he is and that's all that he is. Never confuse him with Gus Johnson. He tries his best. What more can you ask?

Chris Copeland grabbed 9 rebounds. Coach Woodson's tutorials may be sinking in. It's tough to teach a 29 year old dog new defensive tricks.
