Melo leads the Knicks to the finals and they pull off winning the whole thing even Melo's biggest critics will praise him. Everything will be determined on the court once the playoffs begin. No need to get pissed off at one another until after the season officially ends. I like our chances this year.

i think the knicks have what it takes to make it past the first round no problem although one should never underestimate rivers, garnett, and pierce.

beyond that i am concerned about cooling off and being left with average defense.

also, there are some people who are not fans of the way the team handled the lin saga and the melo trade. i never discount karma in these matters.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Melo finally winning a ring and silencing all his critics would be pretty sweet

If you really hate the knicks organization over the Lin fiasco and the Melo trade then I would think you would go route for another team. The only other way is if Dolan sells the team and that is not happening. So I would think even Melos biggest critics would be able to enjoy a knicks championship like everyone else

"hate" is too strong a word first off and an erroneous inference to make from my statement to boot. i think the way things were handled was truly distasteful and i also believe that hubris is almost always punished.

i root for good basketball and it is a plus when my own team actually plays good basketball.

Winning a championship cures all ills and pre-conceived notions of a player. Everyone knows in NY, you win 1 title, you're sports gods without fault. Ask any member of the Yankees teams, the 86 mets, the 69 Jets, the Parcells Giants, the Knicks of the 70s, the 94 Rangers, the Coughlin Giants. You become immortalized.

Unless you're Arod!

Nothing would make me (Knick) happier than Melo becoming a real Mooby and leading us to the finals and him winning an MVP trophy for the series!

I can't imagine anyone who is registered in the UK would not rejoice in that!

There are no kNick haters here, just some that don't "believe" n Melo the way some do.

The best way to change Melo's legacy is not to argue the numbers, but to just come up big.

Its how he is paid and hyped. If not, he will get his paycheck but not the love.

Its how the StarSystem works. Not my rules, just the rules of the jungle.

Yes, but standards are much lower than they were for the '90s Knicks. My guess is that one ECF appearance will be enough for him to be idolized by most of the fan base.

If Melo were to win just 1, he'd be a greater Knick than Ewing. Truth.

As far as I can tell most of the fan base already idolizes him. I can also say for sure that I will NEVER idolize him, even he wins a ring or two. But that's just me, and I am not into idolizing overpaid diva types.

Can we rename this thread Melo's "anticipated or projected Legacy" - cause he doesn't have jack now as a Knick, any other legacy I have no interest in.

Some are excited and we all know the starphuched get a bit over the top.

Just like the somber get depressed on a losing streak.

Melo and the knicks win a chip he lives up to the hype. Really, what else is there?

Melo is not Lebron nor is he built up to be.

Melo lead a trip down the canyon of heroes, He is the king of the Mecca!

And Dolan will be empowered.

If there is karma in the Lin saga it should come back to bite Morey. Maybe he will get some karma for his shenanigans with Chicago as well. If you believe in karma in these matters and you think Moz was just 'too much' to ask for in addition to the other guys traded then maybe it comes back to bite them. Maybe it already has.

In regards to karma in these matters the McGrady fleecing that included last years pick turned out to be Royce White.

Some of the people posting in this thread would rather lose with someone else like Gallo than win with Melo.
