For real what is the beef with Felton these days. I just watched the Bucks game and he didn't play that bad. I am curious though the match ups for this game though. Who guards KD? I don't like Shump on KD. It would be nice if Martin could play.

Well Prigioni is gonna start on Westbrook but he will still get his 60 when Felton is guarding him

Felton's opponent has a 19.5 PER, which basically makes him one of the worst defenders in the game.

I don't know. It doesn't make sense to look at just a 3 game sample. It could be that your man just happened to have an off night, have a cold or an injury, or whatever in one of those games and it would change the numbers too much.

I mean this in my best interest as a Knick Fans

I hope James White gets eaten up by Durant that Woodson/Grunweld will finally cut his ass and/or cut some of the retiring Centers in order to bring in some help to this roster for the play offs

Hakim Warrick is a lanky defender with good size, athleticism, and has the ability to defend SF/PF's that we could put on Lebron
But give whoever we are going to pickup 2 weeks of training/working out with the team/practice/players etc
This stubbornness by Woodson is absolutely killing me, I don't know if he has some tricks up his sleeves but I just don't see this group doing it without major adjustments

I would be very surprised if OKC did not win this game by 12+ points

MIke Woodson's stubbornness is killing you ronron? Dude is 22 games over .500 and that is the best you can do?

James White is a part of the fabric of this watchable team. Tear that fabric at the risk of changing the human dynamic that is more important that statistics. Players are not trading cards or commodities. They are people who relate to one another in ways that are unseen.

They are a fraternity.

With that said, if Nate Thurmond unretires, Glen Grunwald sign him immediately.

You think someone picked up this late will get into the rotation? I doubt White plays and he is being kept for his friendly contract to help a trade this summer like Gadz.

LOL
I dont know man if White hasnt gotten cut by now I dont know if getting lit up by Durant will do it. As for the big men, I think cutting either one of Kurt or Sheed would make us look bad as an organization. Kurt played his heart out and started our run and we reached out to Sheed and got him out of retirement to play for this team.
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

It's the listed positions of the player while he's on the floor. It's not perfect - it doesn't work if you're using a zone defense or if there's a switch but it will work for most of the possessions and it's better than only using the eyeball test.

I'm surprised you're using PER since it's not considered a good statistic by many in the advanced stats community. According NBA.com's stats database Felton's overall defensive rating is 104.5 pts/100 possessions and is rating for each of the last two months was 103.8

at least on hoopshype, White only has a 1 year deal but Gadzuric had a 1 year with team option on 2nd in which we could use his contract to add salary
So, unless, White does have a team option for 2nd year, we would be unable to make such a move, and White is one probably the worst in the entire NBA right now

Yeah that doesn't really helps defenders in a heavy switching system. Defense is so tricky you would need an every possession tracking system. I was browsing hoopstats and saw Felton lost his matchup versus Jennings but he guarde Ellis most of the night and switched so much. Synergy is ok but have flaws. I read an article about how Toronto ate using their sportsvu cameras and how they wrote a program to track their D. Interesting stuff.

I'll take a look at what you're citing. I haven't read nearly as much about the defensive as the offensive sabermetrics. The major criticism of PER - that a player can increase his PER by taking a high volume low % shots - wouldn't really apply to the defensive end though. You're not going to consistently be guarding high volume scorers. If they tracked opponents' WS or WP, I would use that instead.
