Of course, Jeremy has the much better screenplay. Taiwanese lineage. Harvard. Undrafted. Cut. Benched. Inserted as a last resort...

JR is the problemmatic, pouting, puzzling, prodigal son who got run of of China. Run out of Denver. Damaged goods.

Then again...

Last four games J.R. Smith is averaging 30 points a game. Let that sink in a minute. 30. But its not simply scoring. Dude is rebounding the ball, playing three positions, providing assists and genrally being a pain in the ass for anyone we play. Especially in consideration of all our injured big men. Most important, the Knicks are winning with defense and crisp passing. (At 6'9, Kenyon Martin doesn't count as a big man, but he is proving to be an essential piece of the new puzzle)

One was a fresh faced yoot. The other, a trainwreck waiting to happen. Wasted talent.

What is more beautiful, a no-look bounce pass in traffic, or an off balance step back jumper that gets nothing but net?

Let's have some fun.

This has been a great run. You can't forget the gritty performance by Kurt or Kenyon's warrior mentality through this run but JR is definitely the catalyst and he is playing like an MVP. Both runs involved the Knicks being shorthanded and overcoming adversity. The big difference is last years run helped prevent the rockets from getting a lottery pick and this years run just about insures first place in the Atlantic and a tie for second in the east. I wonder how many knick fans defect to whatever team JR plays for next year if they don't resign him.

Dude, they played the Bobcats, Raptors, a tanking Celtics and a Grizz on an off-night

Mere blip on JR's career radar, he always reverts to baseline

Kings, raptors, wolves, wizards, nets were part of the linsanity run. The big win was against the lakers. These two runs are very similar in my opinion. JR has been amazing. If he tanks next march I am sure posters will be on him and bring it up.

Dude,

Linsanity run was Linsanity and Fields, Bill Walker, Novak, Tyson, Jared Jeffries and rookie Shump

You're trying to tell me this little streak by a team with Carmelo ANTHONY, SUPERSTAR, Jason KIDD HALL OF FAME, JR SCORER, is something to shake the sticks at?

I doubt he will be a Knick next year unless we can radically change our $$$ we basically have to give away Tyson for salary cap to keep JR.

I think the Knicks have his bird rights. He loves ny and the Knicks will sign his brother. He also has called Woodson a father figure. Hopefully those factors help to bring him back. While erratic, he is more of a sure thing the Lin after 25 games. Maybe the Knicks start sweating the nets and bite the bullet. Nets also will probably lose Blatche.

They only have partial rights--maybe up to 6mm--and I dont care who is father figure is--when someone offers 9-10---money is going to talk loud.

I agree. Can the Knicks match and take the cap hit?

Who has the cap space to offer JR 9-10 million??? We can offer him that in January/February and his brother a job in the NBA.

The only saving grace in this is that teams may be hesitant to give him big money because of his up and down play in the past. He just needs to keep it up and the Chips will fall where they fall.

Duke Of Earl

"I'm going to keep going to the basket, that's for sure, so [teams are] going to have to figure that out.

"We're in a great groove. We're starting to jump out on teams early, playing great defense, communication is up and we're getting to the free throw line and making our free throws. We're tough to beat like that." - Earl Smith

"I've never [seen him play] the way he's playing right now. I've seen him have his spurts, have his runs before, have some outstanding games, but the way he has it locked in right now, his focus level I haven't seen that in a long time." - Carmelo Anthony

“He’s just getting to the rim and living at the foul line." - Iman Shumpert

“He and I love golf and he’s putting the ball well. He’s making his 10-foot putts. He’s inside-out." - Jason Kidd

"J.R.'s playing so complete right now, man. It's nice to see," - Mike Woodson.

The Artist

While I don’t expect Smith to average over 30 points a game for the rest of the season, he’s not necessarily as sure to cool way off as much as the hot three-point shooting that keyed the Knicks’ six game win streak earlier this season. He’s not scoring more simply because he’s got a hot hand, he appears to have fundamentally changed the way he approaches the game offensively. He not just choosing better shots either, he’s creating better shots. If this new JR sticks around, his contract is going to look like the biggest bargain in the NBA. More importantly, the Eastern Conference playoff picture may have just gotten a lot more interesting.
