9 more wins

*Bill Russell’s Celtics won at least 50 games for 10 straight seasons, spanning from 1958-59 to 1967-68. Boston won nine championships during that decade-long run, plus another after going 48-34 in the 1968-69 season.

*Magic Johnson’s Lakers won at least 50 games in 12 straight seasons, starting with his rookie campaign in 1979-80. The Lakers held five championship parades in downtown Los Angeles during that era.

*Tim Duncan’s Spurs recently extended their 50-win run to a 14 straight seasons. They’ve won three titles during that run, plus one more in the lockout-shortened season right before the streak started.

The playoffs have been noted as the "wait and see" moment for several commenters. However, the path to sustainable excellence starts during the regular season. Based on where this franchise was last November, Mike Woodson has led this band of brothers through a season of change, and health challenges.

No matter how it is dissected, 50 wins is a watermark of excellence.

Or is Mike Woodson just another caretaker for yet another regime change?

Stubborn

“Absolutely — I will never back off (the strategy of wanting veterans) We’re still sitting where we need to be, at the top of our division. And we just got to get some key pieces back, like Melo (a few nights ago), and get Tyson back in a uniform.” - Mike Woodson

Don't see Camby playing under minute this year. He's in the doghouse. Why I don't know

I think he might be a bit like Curry was in the sense that when he plays he gets hurt. Hopefully his plantar faciitis is better for the playoffs and he can give the knicks 15-20 minutes a night.

And anudder thing

Thank you Kurt Thomas, for sacrificing your body to set an example for the other players to follow.

You just may have changed things a bit.

Woodson gets partial credit. A coach is always a major impact, but you have to give credit to several people, including K.Mart!

My brother-in-law was over today and he is a huge net fan going back to the Bill Fitch days. He said that he felt that KMart was as much a leader for the Nets as Kidd was back when they were on the Nets together. He said the Nets had two guys, Kidd and KMart, that played all out all the time and that it carried over to their teammates. Martin seems to still be doing that. He is just getting his game legs and rythmn. He should be a huge help in the playoffs and compliments Melo much better than Amare.

Also the Jazz. Substitute Nets and Wizards in and this would be called linsanity a year ago

First five games of linsanity were the jazz, nets, wiz, lakers and wolves. Take out the lakers and the Knicks are on the same type of run.

Its not so much that we are winning but how we are winning. We look great on both ends finally. Thank You Kmart. I hated your guts with the Nyets but always respected the intangibles you brought

IronWillGiroud - please read the thread title once again. The word is "sustained". Not the last three games. Not the last ten, not twenty. Not the gaudy first half of this season. Sustained.

The entire tenure of Mike Woodson as head man of the Knicks.

you conveniently forgot to list 57 other victories.

Nice work.

Neither do the Celtics, Grizzlies or the unbeatable Miami Heat.

Woodson knows how painful plantar fasciitis can be.

Think long term health first. Not agenda.
