With all due respect to starting center Kenyon Martin, Patrick Ewing might have been the Knicks’ best option at center last night. Instead, Ewing did his first-ever MSG Network telecast — on the postgame show.

“The Big Fella” said the sky’s the limit once the Knicks get back their current Big Fella — injured 7-foot-1 center Tyson Chandler, who missed his fourth straight game last night with a bulging disk in his spine.

“Anything is possible when Tyson gets back and this team is completely healthy,’’ said Ewing, who sat courtside during the Knicks 106-94 win over Orlando. “People always asked. Would I pass the ball? It depended on what time of the game it was — but if I had Melo, I would get it to him.’’

Most fans think melo doesn't pass the ball enough (myself included) but anyone who plays with him goes out of there way to get him the ball, i have seen guys give up good shots to get him the ball.

Melo would rather shot over a double team then pass it, I know he is top 5 in the history of the NBA when it comes to scoring, but this is clearly going to hinder any chance of him winning a ring. Even though jordan was the best scorer on the planet, he just seem to know when to pass, I don't think melo has figured that out..Do we really have to wait until he's a role player?

I have seen players give up good shots when he is not on the floor. I have seen him give up good shots to swing the ball.

Stop lying, you have never seen melo give up a good shot... trust me i'm not saying he doesn't pass or that he's selfish, I'm saying players can't help but give him the ball cause he's a hell've a scorer, but the back lash is that the offense comes to a halt and players start depending and watching melo. With a scorers mentatlity and his team depending on him, he does what he does best.

But on the flip side, scorers always think the next shot is good despite missing 9 of 11 already and start forcing the issue, that usually leads to bad things.

i'm sorry if you think mel is flawless, I'm only stating what I see and I'm sure I'm not alone when I say, He can easily be considered the best player in this league, if he took better shots consistanly, got his teammates more involve, and defend with regularity, not in just in key moments.

When him and amare play the disparity in shot attemps is a complete joke 85% of the time

Actually I can name the game the 1st half of the Miami game he had an open layup and kicked it out for a 3.

Of course you are not alone. I am not alone too. So who is right? Maybe we both are? It comes down to taste I guess. I am not like Breen. Who see a man come late when Melo shoots and say he is shooting out of a double teams. (not that you think that way but some people do). I recognize that not all doubles are the same and thinks he kicks it out a lot more than he gets credit for.

Now, Do I think he is flawless no. I just disagree with you. Big whoop. Any, Melo problem is he isolates to much some of that his own doing and some of that is his teammates relying on him.

And Yes, there is a big disparity between shot attempts between Melo and Amar'e. Some of that had to do with minutes and Amar'e was getting to the line. Should they have used him more. Yeah but then again would that have led to a quicker injury. Injuries a side if Amar'e is out there he needs more touches and should be slightly behind Melo to make the team better and Melo more efficient. Take away 2-4 Iso plays a game is good for everyone. ALso, not having to be the only under 8 sec option would help too.

People don't realize that Melo assisted Amar'e more than anyone last year and probably was up there this year too.

I prefer when JVG works with Breen to keep his anti-Melo stuff in check. I don't have any inside knowledge but my opinion is that Breen was good friends with D'Antoni and holds a grudge against Melo.
