Mental recovery is going to be tough. I have noticed that he favors his damaged knee.

He shouldve been rehabbed in the D league if he was going to play--thats what it is there for, He s not an established NBA star? Hes 22 years old--let him rehab slow but strong he obviously needs 3-6 months more to really strengthen his knee. Once he is doing strong leg lifts running cutting hard --then hell be ok. Adrian Petersen was back to doing 600 pd leg lifts sprinting 4.4's etc... I did not se that with IS. He needs more time.

To quote WFAN, "pop" is never a good thing. Hopefully there's some agreement in the CBA that says we can't lose more than two players a week, right?

Maybe the next UK get together can double as a walk-on Knicks tryout? I read where IronWilG has a mad fringe game.

Possibly, most likely gone list.

I can speak from experience here on the scar tissue thing... perhaps it's a strain, but popping scar tissue is a really good thing with ACL recovery. Very scary when/if it happens, but a good thing.

Yeah I heard thats like the last step before you begin to regain the strength from before the injury

Extremely tough, has he even dunked in a game since he came back? You can tell he thinks about ever move he's going to make, his cuts are not sharp, even his Euro step looks suspect.

I guess thats why D rose is like, I'll wait til I can play exactly how I was playing before the injury, nothing less..

I just think he needs one monster Dunk to go down. However he had a problem finishing last year too so... NOt this bad but it wasn't good. This year is for different reasons. I just hope he makes that step next year once he has a regular off-season. His 3 ball is still falling and that was about all he could do was spot up and shoot. SO that is a very good sign.

But could you be wrong? He like twisted his knee. That's all we need is for him to go down.

Defense

"I was getting kind of mad at myself because I hadn't been getting my hands on as many deflections as I wanted to," he said. "I'm just trying to pick up my aggressiveness, pick up just the excitement of getting my hands on some loose balls and getting out in the open floor."

- I Man Shumpert

Bonus Points

"You've ever had like a gnat at a barbecue that just annoys you? Pablo is annoying on defense. He's been a guy that's really been kicking things off for us defensively in that first quarter."

- Ray Felton on running buddy Pablo Prigioni

The difference is Shumpert pushing through his reconditioning at regular season speed.

Our backcourt defenders, Pablo/ Felton/ Shumpert/ Smith have been more cohesive lately.

Or do they just appear better with a 6'9 energizer getting their backs?

Now I'm confused.

its easier for shumpert to keep up with a small forward than a shooting guard in his current state on defense. when felton's man beats him off the dribble or pick, shumpert helps because he knows martin and melo and ready to rotate away from their own men. prigioni has in general been settling things down on defense and offense and trying to speed up the offense to his credit. i always thought it took him 15 seconds to get the ball to the arc before setting up a play, but he is now looking ahead and passing the ball well. we actually have 17 seconds or so to set up a play in the paint.

on defense, he is preventing the other team's offense from gaining a rhythm by slowing down their inbounds play. this also allows our other players to get back to their respective guys they are guarding.

he has definitely been key. still hating chocolate boy's offense at times. JR looks like he has received the message, play to your one on one strengths when the opportunity presents itself and take it to the hole. with both felton and shumpert running up the ball, our starting 5 is playing more speed ball.

melo has also received the message to pass the ball like a hot potato and to his credit, he is actually doing that.

Shumpert has been progressing and we are no longer seeing the 1-7, 0-6 days. He's not taking a lot of shots and his minutes are low so that can mislead people into thinking he's not playing well because of the low stats but he's been moving a lot better and he's getting more involved in the offense. He'll be fine come playoff time.

... and I am still laughing at those who wanted to trade Shumpert for Dudley.

Yup, I've seen the progress too. Much better lateral movement these days. Still doesn't explode to rim like he is capable of but that will come. He can be a different version of Bruce Bowen for the Knicks.

He used to dish out some punishment when going to the rim. He seems to get there fast but he doesn't get up as strong. He just needs to get his aggressiveness and that "hatred for opponents" he used to talk about. It's just a matter of confidence at this point.

I agree that Shump is looking better. I was for benching him until he got his shot back, but with Prigioni starting I'd rather Iman played the 2 along side of him, they play well together. I also worry about bigger 2 guards having their way with Felton, especially in the playoffs.
