Unclebear Says

I don't know if this was ever brought up, I couldn't find any thread on it. Lets just say somehow we got Reggie Miller in the 90s with Patrick Ewing, would they have won a playoff series against Jordan Bulls?

I think if you gave Ewing any player just a notch or two above Starks we would have won a series against the Bulls,

New York was only a little hair away for half a decade,

IF Alan Houstan did not sign with the Knicks, The plane was going to pick up Reggie.

Look it up.

I'll give knicks credit, Alan had big upside and was a young player when we got him. He was not a bust, but just not the "star" we hoped he could have been.

Reggie was almost a knick!

Detroit had a young Grant Hill and Allan was an upside suprise. Nobody knew the skinny alien Reggie would prove durable and in this case the knicks went for the upside younger player.

My take on H20 and the 100mm extension was a handshake deal at the time of signing.

We can always lament in hindsight but if Allan stayed healthy he was a better player than reggie and younger.

In the few instances the Starphuch could have been a better fit.

Allan Houston was only 25 when he signed with the Knicks coming off a season where he averaged 19.7 points with the Pistons to me it was a no brainer to get Houston that summer of 1996.

I thought it turned out that Reggie was merely using us for leverage in his negotiations with the Pacers- had no intention in signing with us. We then pulled the rug from under him by signing Houston and he was pretty p***ed- didn't he end up signing for a contract that was a lot less than he hoped for?

I doubt Reggie was coming to the Knicks. I remember watching an interview where he said that he planned to use the Knicks to drive up his value, but that fell by the wayside when they signed Houston. I think Miller was the first one to tell Grant Hill, since they were on the same Olympic team. Hill was supposedly heated because Houston never told him. Hill and Houston were supposed to be best buds and all....

I'd say that too if I stayed in Indy........
