Boston is not a better team without Rondo. He's a great player and one of the best at his position in the league. However, they are on a tear since he went down. Why? Because the team plays harder now, they share the ball more effectively and their defense has been better.

I think the Knicks have a similar problem when Melo is on the court. They tend to stand around and watch him try to do something instead of moving. On defense, he needs to bring it every night, which he hasn't since December.

Look at the Utah game. They are not a horrible team, but we destroyed them with suffocating D, great ball movement and open looks.

The moral of the story is the Knicks need to play this same way when Melo is on the floor....like he's just another cog in the machinery. It's not entirely up to him. The team has to play hard around him.

On defense, he needs to match this intensity they've showed when he returns.

Or Utah is a young team at the end of a long road trip, after the second night of a back to back, just looking forward to a night out on the town in NYC...

I think SOME credit for a 30 pt win should go to the Knicks.

It's not about the opponent or the amount of points in a blowout. The main point is how this team decides to play. MSG3 is right! This team started off the year not standing around watching Melo. They simply ran the offense and let things develop naturally. They won playing TEAM BALL and not ISO BALL. Now just like April of last year a team can win for a while with a super hot Melo but that won't last forever. Eventually he'll cool off or wear down which is what happened. With Melo or no Melo. STAT or no STAT. this team needs to play team ball and hustle on D.

Anything's possible- one thing sabermetrics and all those number crunchers don't account for is that heart and effort can raise a team above the level of their natural ability. It's what got me into watching the Knicks in the first place.

Wonder how we'll do on this road trip- Woody said he's aiming to win just over half of them- I want us to win them all!

As much as i hate boston i respect them. I mean they have been an aging team for years yet despite injuries they always seem to have playoff success. For example last year many people were saying(including me) that they were done. yet they nearly beat miami in the ECF

Especially if Melo has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Gee, and I thought being young and athletic was supposed to be a plus in this league. I've heard it is a young man's game after all...
