I still can't get past his Nets days but if I can live with Kidd on this team I can respect Kenyon too - we need him to do well here.

Perfect guy to guard Lebron and Durant. Brewer's D was overrated. Too slow. Kmart might get beat off the dribble a few times but thats where Tyson, Amare & Camby will have to help. Kmart is a savy veteran defender

I'm impressed so far. I was glad when they signed him. This is what most of us hoped Kmart would bring to the team. Have to hope he can stay healthy.

Can we really include Camby in the equation?

I like Martin because he takes away their post position. I think Brandon BAss played Lebron very well last year because he was able to take away that position but his lack of foot speed hurt him guarding Bron off the dribble. I do believe Kmart is a better defender than Bass and is able to handle them off the dribble more. NO one can completely stop them but he can cause trouble.

Camby on Lebron/Durant?

I don't think his D was overrated, I just think his knee was hurting and we never saw the real Ronnie Brewer.

I think we saw the same Ronnie Brewer Chicago didn't think enough of to resign. Kept Jimmy Butler and signed Belinelli instead

I meant that Camby has gotten zero run since he got here and most likely will not play but who knows. I wish he was playing, I think if he was healthy it would be huge for this team.

I think the reason Kenyon played is because Camby played the night before. Woodson probably doesn't want to play him on back to backs.

That Kenyon Martin can defend a guy like Dirant on the perimeter is very encouraging. Now you have another body to throw at guys like LeBron, Paul George, etc.

While Camby and Sheed were out we had no defensive big men outside of Tyson. I'm still hoping that K-Mart will be a piece that propels the team defense back to where it was at the start of the season. Melo also has to go back to the defensive effort he was showing back then, and pull back the number of shots he's taking.

Really liked what I saw from K-Mart- hope we can build on it.

agreed, that was not a flagrant foul or a dirty play by any means at all by Martin
He went for the ball and got it, was a horrible call....

He is our best F defender, especially at PF and in the PnR
He should get a shot to start, however, it would be another hard pill for Amare to swallow

I wasn't against the signing but admittedly I wasn't a fan of him. But he played hard and I can appreciate that. It's nice to have a guy who can play physical defense and he seemed in decent enough shape to get up and down the floor and protect the rim. I was impressed.

Over the last few games, I noticed when KMart was on the bench and the guys on the floor would come out of the game after a a time out he would get into peoples faces. I'm not talking just saying things as they walked by but literally stop them in their tracks, get in their way and literally be against them as he spoke down to them (he's a tall guy). It was some drill Sargent looking stuff...definitely too close for comfort. I saw him do it to Felton and JR. But he was half smiling as he spoke so I couldn't tell if he was trying to motivate them or if he was tearing them a new one. It was intimidating just watching lol.

When people said he was intense...they really weren't kidding. I'm very curious what he's saying to these guys but I don't expect him to be on a "mic'd up" segment anytime soon. Anyone else notice this?

That's Kmart's reputation, it rubs some players the wrong way but I'm all for it. There are guys on this squad who play at times like they're in their own little world, not paying attention to what is happening around them on the court. Its good to have someone like Kmart on the team to snap them out of it.

When a good scorer sees Kenyon he's not happy - He's annoying- like Rasheed - we needed that- Shumpert was annoying last year but he's not back yet- Kenyon can really bother you- We really needed that- It will loosen up the other guys - Tyson's a great defender but not a bully- The Fugazy Era is back- I liked seeing Kurt T too-
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

Maybe but how do you start Amar'e and have him available late in the 4th on a 30 min limit? The limit restriction really hurts Amar'e chances of starting if they go 7.5 minutes a qtr.

I hated KMart prior to his signing here and it wasn't out of respect. In his prime I thought he was over rated, dirty and benefitted from playing with Kidd and Miller. I also really thought he his character was flawed a bit (i.e. when he was laughing at Zo Mourning when he was on the Nets coming back from his kidney transplant and struggling to run suicides). However, similar to Spree, once he put on the orange and blue and played all out I was over all of that. The intimidation stuff with teammates is interesting. I hadn't noticed it but I remember Melo saying that he knew him as a player and heard from people that he knew that knew Martin that was working out and in good shape. It didn't sound like a ringing endorsement or a plug for Martin. It makes you wonder if Martin used to get in Melo's face about his play.
