I can't cheer for a guy that bangs his chest after a tough inside bucket...yet finishes the Gabe with 6 rebounds.

In defense he turns his back and literally runs away from the ball leaving the lane wide open.

I just can't get behind him

Every player except Lebron has their weaknesses, if you're just going to focus on those and ignore what they do well then of course you won't be able to route for him.

Before Tyson snatches virtually every rebound. Amare proved that we are a better team with him at the 4. Melo did an admirable job but he doesnt block shots on the weakside and guarding 4's is taking a majir toll on Melo. How many games has be already missed 10? And he will likely be out again with the same bruised knee

We dont need him fighting Tyson for rebounds. If Amare averges 6-7 i will take it. Hes averaging what 4-5 in 21mins? Like others said. Appreciate what he does well. Too many times people focus on negatives. Amare is a 55% fg guy. Meaning he is virtually automatic and our most efficient offensive player. Not even Melo is as efficient. Melo needs to put up 20+ shots to get his 25 while others stand around. Amare only needs 15 shots to get 25

Are we taking shots or rebounding? With only Tyson in the boards and 4 perimeter players....we will not win in the playoffs. If a poor rebounding scorer is the first big man of the bench we are in trouble.

Part of the problem is Woodson and his love affair with putting melo at the 4. Injuries put him there but everyone us healthy now. They can't start games white at the 3 with melo at the 4 and then complain about defense and rebounding.

rebounding is all about instinct.. i don't think amar'e has true basketball instincts. he's a beast around the hoop though.

He wasn't taught that was important in his formative yrs in the NBA, coaches just thought he knew how. That's why it's a team game and everybody on this roster has to help strengthen others weaknesses. We must play this way if we expect the knicks to win big this year.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

JR kidd and shumpert are all good rebounding guards. They need to be because Amares been in the league a decade and isnt improving. Melo is a good rebounder at the 3 not the 4.

Exactly no reason to start Melo at the 4 wespecially with camby and kmart available

Agreed sorry you make $20mil and you show desire to pound the ball inside to score but won't play D and won't rebound consistently although you can slam the ball in the rim and you're 6'10"?

Only thing I can hope for, he plays well enough to get himself traded. It's simply a disgrace players force you to henpeck what they do well to like them...when they are severely flawed in so many other areas of their game by choice.

Nope give me basketball players who play as hard as they can on both sides of the ball, given their abilities especially those who take the biggest pieces of pie/cake.

He looked really good defensively last night. No breakdowns and great weakside shotblocking. We will see if hes finally turning the corner. Sucks he wasnt on the floor vs the Heat. We should be 3-0 if not for woodson playing right into the heats hand. Play Amare and force the heat to matchup. Not the other way around

No he didn't Speights and Thompson had relatively good games. Wasn't Speights like 10-10 in the first half? Really if it wasn't for Kyrie absolutely laying down in the 3rd qrt and they stopped going to Speights and last but not least Carmelo going down with injury... I doubt we would have pulled out the W.

Amar'e came on offensively and had a hand in a couple key stops late but if you're....."what have you done for me lately I only remember the last thing you did type of fan and you homer the player" then sure he played great or looked good last night.

And you could just as easily be posting about how Woody's an idiot for overplaying Stat while we wonder if he'd be back in time for the playoffs...the guy's too fragile.

Back on topic, how come DLee can rebound but he can't play defense? We have an efficient scoring machine who can defend in spots, but can't rebound.
You would have thought all that time with Hakeem would have gotten Stat some increase in rebounding skills.

You have to want to rebound the ball, you have to have a nose for it. amares defensive awareness is not high at all..

He's a hard worker, just not very smart.

Agreed. You are never going to beat the Heat trying to match their small ball. Lebron and Wade are better than anything that anyone in the league has. You have to pound them into submission like Boston did before the riculous Perkins trade

I just hope that people will like me

Exactly. Woodson admitted this morning he made a mistake. Funny that even fans knew this but the headcoach of the new york knicks making millions cost us a chance to go 3-0 vs Miami. Now they know they can beat us. Wont be surorised if they blow us off the court the fourth and final game
