There's been much more hostility between the so-called homers and sombers ever since NYKM joined.
I find myself lurking now and not contributing as much. Specially when I post anything Lin related in the "Other" thread you get personal attacks. Really don't enjoy it. So I pick my spots now.
this is why I avoid the game threads 90% of the time.. not worth the anguish, I stay in the "other teams threads" and still get attacked there.. I have no problem with people who disagree with me.. but when it gets personal, they start following you around from post to post, then it becomes too much... A good debate is fun and healthy.. some can't understand or refuse to understand that.. out of a difference of opinions comes insight, you can learn from one another.. but it seems most are interested in force feeding certain players on you, changing your mind, and finding out what poster you were before... it is really ridiculous, childish and doesn't leave any room for a healthy debate...
+1
Probably the most quality post about posting I've seen.
Look at me, I'm a tkf booster!
LOL.. but seriously, that is the problem I had on another site...I don't care if you don't like my favorite player, I don't care if you hate him, but lets at least have a good debate and not reduce to name calling.... or following another poster around looking to take shots at all of his post.... we are all here to talk basketball and the knicks.. we can be doing a lot of other things, and I don't think anyone comes here to be insulted. It is funny jrod, i went from being voted most popular poster on a site, to a pariah in just one year because I didn't like a certain player... yet when the masses agreed that larry Brown was the devil, and Isiah was all evil, it was ok to kill these guys every day, all day..... even take shots at larry browns physical problems he had with his bladder... it was no holds barred then....
I honestly think the less you try to force your views on another poster, the more you will win him over in the long run.. and that will open the door for good debates although we may not agree about a damn thing... hahaha..
I think you've moderated slightly over the past few months, despite the rinse and repeat comments you occasionally draw. As a matter of fact, I do remember calling out your mild approval of something Melo did, although I can't remember what it was just now...
NYKMentality and alot of us other homers I believe, tend to overreact to negativity because it's a world view issue. This franchise has been shat on for so long, to have any level of respectability and true star quality is something to be cherished and possibly overprotected. I mean, we live at the top of the division. We have two bonafide stars. We attract people with rings and future HOF'rs. This is the Knicks now. Think about the past without using it to overpaint the present.
It's a shame the endless debate and difference in worldviews is driving people off the site and out of threads. You've got to sit back and laugh at all this once in awhile. It's an arm of the entertainment industry parading as a game of billionaires paying millionaires.
You're right though; here, as in the world in general, misery loves company. I remember the never ending streams of Kill IT, Kill Starbury, Kill ECurry. Everyone on here seems to get along when things are truly rotten. Weird.
