Not saying it's the answer, but why not try? He deserves his shot. Build the 2nd unit around Stoudemire and let JR start at SF while moving Shumpert back to the 2. We will have nights where we get off to great starts because of JR. He's frustrating but may be more controlled in the starting lineup as a role player/spot up shooter for Melo than as the go-to guy of the second unit. I bet we would see his percentages rise as well as his consistancy. It can't hurt to try.

Kidd shouldn't be playing at all. I don't see who else could start. So it would have to be Smith.

Yeah i just think it should be done not just out of necessity but because JR Smith is a starting caliber player. At this point we know what we get with him as a 6th man, but maybe he will be a better player as a starter. His chemistry with Melo has always been great. Kidd should be playing very minimal, i agree.

Nov .438 33
Dec .395 33.4
Jan .366 34.8
Feb .430 31.7

With Melo at the 4 we're getting nothing from our starting 2 or 3 - but Jr is playing 33 minutes a game anyway. I don't think it matters but we're getting nothing from our starting 2/3 - Kidd's shooting .196 in for Febuary, Shumpert .264.
