ESPN Radio (M.Kay Show) - usually doesn't know anything about basketball because all he likes is baseball. However, he has a good outlook of the knicks problem in a nutshell. The overall problem is they spent ALL their money on three players and are now left to pay minimum wage on role players. These role players are typically not good or very very old since thats all they can afford

For those who dont know. The salary cap is $58 mil and $51 is spent on tyson, amare and melo. That means roughly $7 mil to spend on the remaining 12 players. SMH

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

I don't necessarily agree because we would be over the cap no matter what, plus this team has been plenty resourceful to add depth. Injuries created the depth issues, not the way the contracts are spread out. Even with all that money put towards those 3 guys, there are ways to get other role players.

oh i agree..but overall i thought its a good (and obvious) description of the knicks roster problems. its way too top heavy (Amare, Tyson, and Melo) and they can only afford cheap scrubs for role players (Kurt, Cope, Prigs, White, Sheed, Brewer/Kmart) and then to make matters worse they overpay on Camby and Kidd. Knicks were creative with JR and Novak (also overpaid). Shump is still on a cheap rookie contract so that the ONLY bargain

Miami went thru it the first season of superfriends and made it to the finals.

Our three is not as good.

^^^great point Nalod

I think if you ARE gonna be so top heavy, you better make sure youre CORE three is great (with at least one elite player)

1. Melo = great scorer; but not an elite all around player
2. Tyson = one dimensional defensive stud
3. Amare = $100 brittle bench player

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better
