I took it as literal... does anyone actually know what his allowed minutes are? (assuming there is a restriction)

i'd say around 30-35 minutes... but he's been in foul trouble recently so that's why he hasn't been playing major minutes

Its not a minutes restriction. Its a defense restriction. Amare needs to start over Kidd and still only see 25-30mins for health and defensive reasons

You cant have 1 guy shooting over 45% in your starting lineup.

The dudes knees can't take 30+ minutes a night.

He clearly doesn't have the lift he used to around the rim.

I prefer Amare to have limited minutes versus no minutes on the inactive list.

Is he really our 2nd best player? Chandler and Felton are both more important to our team. We are still only a .500 team with Amare there whether it's his fault or not. I think he is playing fine, better than i expected, but there are still some major issues with our team and not sure if we are a better team when he is on the floor. We don't seem to be.

It's a minute restriction due to arthritis, I think. Remember when he first ruptured that cyst and Wally seemed to let it slip that he had arthritis and should have his minutes reduced for the rest of his career?

Amar'e says he's on a cap of 30mins, but it seems like they want to keep him at about 23-25min. Usually if he goes over 25mins, the next game he plays 20mins. Should be able to increase them in the playoffs though.

Amare is our second best player no ? Asked he's the only other player on this team you could run a offense around.. And he's clutch in crunch time... I love chandler but who is the better pick and roll player amare hands down who is better in crunch time amare! who can create his own shot amare. Who's more explosive in the paint amare. Who's a better defender chandler... And that's all chandler has on amare.. They should be starting together amare is not a bad weak side defender and he can rebound!

Chandler's our best crunch time defender, he's our best weak side help defender, he's our best rim protector, he's our best intimidater. Chandler more important than Amare at this point.

Tyaon and felton are more important but in the playoffs you will need a consistent 2nd option on offense if you are going to have any chance at knocking of indy chicago and miami. If not then the knicks just dont have enough talent as thise teams.

If Melo is the entire offense we truly are Denver East

We have 2 years beyond this year with amare. 24-25 minute limits and planned days off should be prudent for the rest of his time. Hes playing just like he did in year 1 with the Knicks BUT we cant afford another injury. Take him as the best 6th man in the league --thats a huge role

You're wrong. Who can play more minutes? Chandler. Who's a much better defender? Chandler. Who's a much stronger rebounder off the glass/boards? Tyson Chandler. Who's a better finisher in regards to cleaning up? Tyson Chandler. Who gives our offense more chances due to tip outs and offensive boards? Chandler. Who can impact the game, without the basketball? Tyson Chandler.

As of right now, Chandler is a much better (overall) basketball player when compared to Amar'e Stoudemire.

Just answered your question. He is on a 30 minute restriction for the rest of the season.
I doubt Amare will break 25 minutes consistantly. I rather get 22 minutes a night out of him rather than the alternative, which is to play him for 30 minutes a night and after 2 weeks then have him out for another 2 months.

He is only missing 4:30 of each period, or sitting 37% of the time.

Melo avg's 38 min pergame, or sits on average 2 min per qtr, sitting 17% of the time.

If that is what it takes to preserve him then so beit.

Absolutely agree. Chandler's impact is far greater than Amare for those reasons.

IMO he should be finish games on the floor, he should play the last 6 minutes of every qtr, unless there foul trouble

They're gonna let him loose for 30 or 35 minutes in the playoffs, I think the plan is to get into the playoffs and then hope he will hold up, which I think he will because so far the return is well managed, the low minutes are allowing Amar'e to return to full health without over exerting his system, in the playoffs he should be ready for 35 minutes, book it
