The trade deadline is today and #Knicks did not expect to be active. But did that change overnight? More:
Despite a three-game losing streak (second one of the season) and four losses in their last five, the Knicks have not been active in significant trade talks leading into today's 3 p.m. trade deadline.

Their most important need is frontline depth and right now the team is hoping Rasheed Wallace and Marcus Camby will soon be able to play and fill those critical roles. But their ages and injuries put the team in a precarious position.

There are reports that if the Phoenix Suns waive veteran Jermaine O'Neal, the Knicks would cut a player and sign the 34-year-old O'Neal as insurance. And 35-year-old Kenyon Martin is also out there, waiting to see if the Knicks will bring him in, as well.

Ronnie Brewer could be moved not as an asset but more as a favor to him. Brewer lost his role in the rotation since Iman Shumpert's return. He will be a free agent this summer looking for a contract and it would help him to land somewhere he will get a chance to play. That's merely doing right by a player.

For the Knicks, sure, it would be great to add a young player such as Paul Millsap or Eric Maynor, but the Knicks don't have the pieces -- either assets or money-match salaries -- to make such a deal. The plan all along was to stay the course with this group as constituted, get everyone healthy before the playoffs and make a run.

But has seeing the lack of energy and urgency from this team more often than not lately caused concern in the front office? Perhaps a shake-up, even a mild one, could have a positive impact?

Melo, for one, doesn't believe so.

"You can go out there and trade for anybody," he said. "If they don't give you the effort, that's defeating the purpose."
.....................................................................................

Good point Melo. If only these Knicks gave effort!

I wonder if this team has become complacent knowing that this is it. These are the guys who they are going out with. No pressure to be traded

Told #Knicks urgency because of last night's horror show didn't change because of last night. Best bet is buyout guys.

Looking like Kmart or Amundson will be claimed off waivers after the Knicks waive a vet and thats it hope for the best

Hickson is still out there. Portland is trying to trade him for a 1st and no suitors. Maybe we can offer the 2016 1st

I'm hating their quotes. Right now I couldn't care less what their sorry mouths have to say.

Denver has our 2016 first, we can't offer a pick until 2018.

Mark my words

Knicks will waive brewer, brewer will sign with miami.

We will see them in the playoffs, brewer will guard JR smith or melo.

Juat our luck

It's a swap it can be traded, although I was thinking of a scenario where the pick is in play and traded as long as we stay in the 1st round. The problem is Denver controls the rights on the pick from the Melo trade. We'd probably have to contact them again to finagle something.

Oh Well this is what happens when you push chips All-In with no No-Out in sight.

We shouldn't waive Brewer. White or Copeland should go first, though Id keep Cope.

I don't think this is correct. Basketball reference has 2014 as last pick being traded. Whats your source?

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Guns is right, Denver has the right to swap picks that year.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

White or Kurt. Brewer might actually be useful in fouling Lebron in the playoffs. If we make the playoffs
