"There are major concerns (from people close to Shumpert) over how the Knicks are developing him," a source from another team told SheridanHoops.com, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

"They feel he’s being played out of position (at small forward) and his confidence is suffering because of it. They understand the team is having success and it has to be the right deal, but they’d prefer Iman in another situation… And soon."

This is weak. I know there's a lot of pressure out there to get a scoop, but a source from another team relaying the message of acquaintances of a player on another team? Maybe Sheridan should've held off until he had something stronger.

Well DUH like I told gunsewing he's never going to properly develop here when you have BLACK HOLES such as Melo/Amar'e/Earl....I don't blame him for wanting to spread his wings grass is greener on the other side desire, if true. Nor does he want to probably be pigeoned hole as some "do the dirty work" player... be only a lock down defender.

He may see himself more along the lines of a Luol Deng type with possibly more athleticism full recovery from ACL injury.

He will never be Luol Deng talent on this team with the Motley Crue of Stooges we have here.

Once again we're in WIN NOW MODE.....Goodbye Shump....Grunny Get It Dunny Sunny!!!!!

This article was just posted in the other Shumpert thread and here's what I said there:

I'm fairly concerned about this, it reads almost exactly like what happened in the offseason with Lin. First, Woodson says there's no way we'll let him go; then the rumors start coming that we might be looking at other players; then reports start coming that the team isn't happy with his attitude/work habits/etc.; finally, we end up losing him nothing or next to nothing. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if we ended trading Shumpert to Minnesota for Ridnour
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

Same time every season. Like clockwork.

Who exactly are Shump's "people"?

Let he who has never speculated about a Knicks trade deadline deal cast the first stone.

No one had a problem intimating what Howard and Gay supposedly were saying to each other off-record via SAS sources. But hey since it involves the Lakers and their drama then let's run with it Ha Ha Ha style.

Look most of the rumors are unconfirmed and untrue but let's not be naive to Shump's confidence in what he thinks of himself. He showed tons of Moxy/Tude last year I doubt that has left his personality as a whole..

And when a coach says...team wants to keep you but can't make no promises, then the star players says no one needs to be traded, then the coach follows up and says you won't be traded...then other internal things start coming out put 2 and 2 together.

I don't think this is going to affect us in any major way as of now.... but in a vacuum it's not an ideal situation and could grow to become a distraction if we don't handle this correctly.

In all honesty Shumpert probably should be traded, maybe not for a Dudley type(although not bad) but we probably need a more vet presence with talent on the team we have now.

Knicks will get something for Shump if he is moved. I hope they stay patient and keep him. Not sure who his people are. Iman is all over Twitter. I hope he addresses this.

Why does it seem like you want Shumpert traded?

if shumpert is unhappy with his role it's a red flag, an indication of a not-ideal locker room. it is not hard to imagine that this team is unraveling before our eyes.

"the ship be sinkin'"???

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

No it's more so the organization/Vet Star players forcing talented young players to make the greater sacrifices for this franchise. Since it wasn't a problem to let all of our young talent go in the past.... in particular when we weren't in WIN NOW MODE, then there should be no reason not to trade Shump, now that we are.

I didn't say make a bad Shump trade but Shump is by no means untouchable, nor did I feel the youth from the previous regime was. I'm also looking at this from an objective perspective, Shump's talents will not be maximized on this team anytime soon.

I don't think we're unraveling, although I feel there greater realities about this team have caught up to us. We could unravel depending on our adjustments, focus, and inability to make good decisions going forward.

in order to maximize talent you have to have complete players as your core. the knicks don't have a single player like that as part of their core. why that is is another matter at this point. so the team is eventually forced to acquire players that are content to defend and rebound. can't blame shumpert for wanting to move on, if true. but if the knicks trade him it should be for a player who can defend and rebound, and is content doing only that.
