Last year we wouldve shifted Shumpert on to Wall--we did but only for one of the last possessions last night. If we have a scenario where Ray is not fast enough--for guys like Parker Kemba Wall etc... Put Shumpert on them.

Also while we dont have Camby and Shhed--lets get some use out of KT. He's played very well in it's limited minutes--he makes shots rebounds runs and plays good D. Move J Kidd out of the starting line up and move KT in.

Then go with
Stoudemire
JR Smith
J Kidd
Novak
Prigioni

It baloances off our D more--we had an imbalanced lineup in the 4th Q way too much amare Carmelo Chandler--it seems to never work and we had bad placement by keeping Felton on Wall. Carmelo left Ariza wide open way to may times and Ray could not keep Wall in front of him. We cant get to high form home wins over Detroit. We need to continuously try to improve and it starts with D.

I dont know why Woody does use a Zone defense more. That would hide the inadequacies of Stat and Novak
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Don't want it schemed against is my only reasonable thought.

that 2nd unit on DEFENSE is really weak, everyone needs help with their issues in speed/quickness, athleticism, and shot blocking
As great as Kidd's start was in the beginning of the season and how he impacted the team with his leadership/experience, he is been a completely different player that has been very inconsistent

KT is a undersized backup center, shot blocking ability, is not athletic, and not mobile
I have been saying it before the season started, we miss JJ and what he brought to the team
As a mobile PF, he has good length, rotates very well for charges or a help defender, and while covering multiple position as a glue player
He was a very under rated HELP DEFENDER, and was quick enough to recover to on his own man
The screens that he set on and off the ball are very well, along with his cuts, that frees up shooters and earns them some room.
This was why I really wanted Kenyon Martin, because he brings some JJ brings
Chandler seriously needs another PF and athletic F to compliment his defense

Also I think Woodson's philosophy on DEFENSE is flawed
We are constantly looking to cheat/help each other on DEFENSE, which will leave players open when the ball moves with player movement and penetration
There are certain players/team's that you cannot cheat on, for yesterday it was Webster
He should have been defended like how Novak is defended by the entire league
Ariza is not a consistent shooter but after hitting 3 3pointers, he should never have been left open
Help should only come from certain players depending on the match ups and who we have on the floor that has that ability

We also switch on the pick's way too easily, allowing our opponents to create mismatches, while not fighting through the screens.

Problem was we didn't have anyone that could stay in front of John Wall
JR Smith and Felton are currently are quickest/fastest defenders, and they are not even quick/fast enough to stay in front of many speedy PG's.
Iman Shumpert just is not there yet and I am not sure if he will be after recovering from surgery and not playing basketball for more than half a year

agreed you have to give iman shumpert time. hopefully he will regain most of his lateral quickness by playoff time. obviously he is a step slower than pre-injury.

wall is a blur out there but as mr. frazier said just lay off him and dare him to take a jumpshot. no need to run a zone on a guy who can't shoot. knicks just can't afford to take 3s and generate long rebounds against a player like him. never mind our 9 turnovers-- a long rebound off a missed 3 is the same as a turnover! the wizards got 13 points off of the fast break.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

I'm still not sure why we don't trap the speedier point guards at half court more often, to get the ball out their hands, and let someone else initiate the offense. Either that or apply token full court pressure with Prigioni or Shumpert to eat a few seconds off their half court sets.

Hopefully Woody makes the necessary adjustments sooner than later, because we're getting eaten alive by these pg's.

I wish we would play more zone especially on the 2nd unit
