Check Out These Case Files

Feb 13'

DeMarcus Cousins was ejected from the Sacramento Kings' loss on Monday at the Utah Jazz.

Cousins approached referees Scott Foster, Matt Boland and Tre Maddox at halfcourt at halftime.

Cousins said he wanted an explanation for the technical foul Maddox called on him in the second quarter.

"He was saying, 'Don't talk to me,' " Cousins said. "So my response was, 'You don't have to act like an effing female.' I shouldn't have said that. That's about it."

Cousins has an NBA-high 12 technical fouls and is four from an automatic one-game suspension.

Jan 13'

It wasn’t accidental. It was spur of the moment and not premeditated.

And it got DeMarcus Cousins ejected with a flagrant two.

With the Kings down two and 41 seconds to go in the overtime, Cousins was triple team then stripped of the ball, which bounced around rolled out to the side and was grabbed by the Mavs. As Cousins was standing back up he shoves Vince Cater in the face.

It was another moment where he just lost control. He realizes it almost instantly and tries to grab Carter and keep him up. But by then the damage is done.

The refs called it a flagrant one, reviewed the footage, and raised the foul to a flagrant two and ejected Cousins.

And because it is Cousins a fine is coming from the league office. Bet on it.

Dec 12'

Geoff Petrie announced on Saturday that DeMarcus Cousins has been suspended indefinitely by the Sacramento Kings due to "unprofessional behavior and conduct detrimental to the team."

Cousins and Keith Smart had a verbal altercation during halftime of the Kings' 97-85 loss to the Clippers on Friday.

Dec 12'

DeMarcus Cousins has been suspended one game without pay for "striking" Dallas Mavericks guard O.J. Mayo in the groin area, the NBA announced on Wednesday.

Cousins will serve his suspension Wednesday night when the Sacramento Kings visit the Milwaukee Bucks.

The incident occurred during the Kings' 119-96 loss on Monday night.

Nov 12'

DeMarcus Cousins said he tried to be mature Saturday night.

Apparently, the official who ejected him thought differently.

Cousins, who was called for his second technical foul and ejected in the third quarter of the Kings' win over Utah, said Monday he said nothing inappropriate and it was referee Gary Zielinski who was out of line.

"The referee cursed at me," Cousins said. "He told me to go (expletive) ask the other referee (about the first technical foul). I was going to say something back, kept my cool and walked away and still end up with a technical. So I still don't understand."

Cousins said after Monday's practice he "didn't say a word" to Zielinski to warrant the technical foul.

Cousins was hit with the first technical when he bumped Enes Kanter, then slapped the ball out of his hand after the whistle.

Nov 12'

The NBA has suspended DeMarcus Cousins for two games without pay after a Friday confrontation with Sean Elliot, who is an announcer for the Spurs.

Elliot criticized Cousins for talking trash toward Tim Duncan during the game.

Cousins sought out Elliot after he was informed of the comments and had a confrontation.

Jan 12'

The Kings fired coach Paul Westphal on Thursday, hours after the team suffered a 27-point loss to the Denver Nuggets and just four days after the coach openly feuded with DeMarcus Cousins.

Assistant Keith Smart will coach the Kings in Thursday’s home game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Kings compiled a 51-120 record under Westphal.

Feb 11'

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Kings rookie center DeMarcus Cousins was removed from a team plane bound for Phoenix after an altercation with teammate Donte Greene on Saturday night, according to two sources close to the organization.

The incident, which was first reported by FanHouse, immediately followed a loss to Oklahoma City. Cousins, who had overcome early-season struggles of the performance and personality variety recently, is expected to be suspended for at least one game. Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie did not immediately return a call for comment.

According to the sources, Cousins (whose postgame interview can be seen here) was furious at the last play in which Tyreke Evans missed a three-pointer in the final seconds of regulation that would have won the game. Cousins, who had been calling for the ball in the post in the final possession, watched angrily as Greene in-bounded the ball to Evans for the final shot.

Nov 10'

Kings rookie center DeMarcus Cousins was kicked out of the team's practice on Monday.

"It was a necessary move in our continued attempt to help him develop," said Kings coach Paul Westphal of Cousins' departure from practice.

Westphal declined to explain why Cousins made it through only two-thirds of practice.

"I'm not going to get into details," Westphal said. "He was asked to leave early."

Cousins was fined earlier this season after a verbal dispute with the Kings' strength and conditioning coach.

you dump him at the earliest opportunity unless he agrees to seeing a sports psychologist 3 times a week.
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

I don't think I've ever seen a more CANTANKEROUS player in all of sports. Whoever purchased the Kings from the Maloofs takes a major LMNOP for the DeMarcus Cousins factor alone, not to mention not 1 redeemable asset of desire on their team in spite of him.

65% stake of $525mil comes to $340mil so if this was a car sale once the car leaves the Lot unless it's a Honda/Toyota/High End Foreign Auto in this case it's a Chrysler/GMC/Ford/Dodge the value instantaneously drops as he remains on and/or off the team.

Lose-Lose not matter which way you look at it.

Cous/Wall/Reke....Calipari has some major splaining to do

Hire PhilJax to run the team and spend the summer with him in Montana eating "shrooms" and tripping until he sees the headcase he really is.

OR,

Spend time learning the ways of the OrangeBlobMan to get scared straight and be mentally regular....

Or,

trade him the rockets and start him, with Royce White, and delonte and call the shift "high Anxiety"! Maybe Michael Beasley is also available. I think Nate can also be signed.

Beas
White
cousins
Delonte
Nate

On the rockets, you have Linsanity and Insanity!

Or,

Trade him to the knicks for what ever phantom picks we have left and he can join the fabled "brotherhood of man" where winning and being accountable is the creed.

He needs to go to boston and practice with KG. He really just needs to not be the best player on a team and when gets out of line he gets benched.

this kid is a great talent, but a pure knucklehead.... He has the potential to be a franchise player or a franchise destroyer.... right now, he is a franchise destroyer.. I would move him and try to get as much value as I can... You don't want this guy being the face of your franchise, and he has proven over and over again, that he can't conduct himself as an adult and professional.. he is a ticking time bomb!

You don't trade him. This is like Zach Randolph.

Hard for me to get mad at Cousins after experiencing Eddy Curry. Cousins has lost the weight and gotten better.

Some guys are just too into the game. He definitely needs to control himself. I think once he starts getting suspended and loses money he will get the message.

He's young and hasn't got it together yet- it happens. The problem is he's in a terrible environment that only makes things worse- no leadership, no people he respects and can learn from. As we saw in the IT days a losing environment with no steady leaders just brings out the worst in people. Kings need to trade nearly everyone on that roster- Tyreke Evans and Cousins could do great on veteran teams, but as things stand if Cousins is your teams leader, it's not going to go well for the team or him.

The guy seriously reminds me of dudes in camps/high school that were really talented and acted like kids because they pretty much were kids, unlike Cousins who is a grown ass man.

Let's say OKC fails miserably this year and it becomes obvious Westbrook/Duant just doesn't work in the playoffs.

Following the mindset of teaming Cousins w/ some veteran leadership, do you swing a deal for Cousins and player/picks for Westbrook? It's not like Westbrook is the most rational guy and he'd be a nice piece for Seattle fans to fill the seats. I prefer Westbrook, but I am just curious what others think.

Not like Zach at all. Zach's teammates (except for Rubin Patterson) have always loved and raved about him. He had one physical altercation in Portland because Rubin was picking on his boy. He told Patterson to leave him alone, Patterson kept at it and Zach fractured his eye socket. The other issues were that people though he hung out with a bad crowd and hit entourage was a bit off the hook.

This guy is making Ron Crazy Ass Artest look sane. Ron did and does dumb **** but not as often as this fool. He's just as likely to assault a referee as he is his own coach. WTF

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

They need to part ways. Look for the highest bidder and go from there. There is always somebody out there who thinks they can fix a knucklehead with great talent. Just as long as it is not the Rockets.

I think the logical place is to build around him with veterans.

I don't know their roster but you take back bigger contracts and get a few high character guys around him and a strong coach.

Sort of what knicks/Nuggs did with Melo. Im not saying Melo was anywhere close to this dude or ever has.

The point is Melo really got it when Iverson was traded to Detroit for Billups. He grew up.

Not saying Melo was ever "bad".

Agree 100%.

Cousins talent and "potenshull" is whats keeping him in the NBA right now and I'm sure the Kings don't won't to lose on that (although I dont think anyone would blame them if they would to cut their loses now). This is the route I would go if I was the GM/owner if this team.

As far as the Melo comparison....nice bait. I'm sure someone is going to take a bite.

You always assume the worst.

No bait unless you set it on fire, ring the bell and run away.

I said twice Melo was not nearly like this guy. Its an example some "Moobyites" can understand.

Classic example of looking for bone to pick!

Cousins isn't getting into trouble if the court though.

Nobody likes losing. Plus the team is in turmoil with moving hanging over the team for the last 3 years.

I agree with your take on Cousins. Best of both worlds for everyone involved would be to trade Cousins to a team with veteran leadership for a veteran who still has a few good years left in the tank, and a pick.

The Kings trading Cousins would be foolish. He's their best overall player on an awful team. The type of player you actually wanna keep around. Scratch the rest. If you're going to trade Cousins, fine, trade him in the future. But, not when his value is at an all-time low you don't. Just my thoughts and I could be wrong.

Pretty simple.

I believe I can get a big premium for him--I know there is nice-sized market for him--we have seen that. Despite his enormous potential and his current production--he is no winner. They havent won with him and I doubt they will anytime soon. BUt it would have to be a deal that knocked my socks off. I would offer him to Toronto for Jonas Valanciunas and pick 36-39 in this draft. Toronto really wants to win now--Cousins is more advanced than Valanciunas and Baragani is no C. The contracts are low and meet in the middle so no trouble there--Ill take the two as well
