Shumpert's recent failings finishing near the basket are not new. I had considered whether elevation/explosiveness were a problem post-ACL surgery.

The thing is that last year this was also a problem. He might be taking off too early, or his 2-foot jumping is giving opponents a chance to recover a little bit on defense and challenge the shots. He never resolved it last year and we see it happening again even now.

Unless he finds a way to correct this, it'll always take percentage points off his FG%.

Let's give him a few months to really get his legs back before we start evaluating him...Playing 20 mins per night really isn't going to do it either...

He had the same issue last year- I think he just gets too worked up wanting to have a big dunk, after a few he'll settle down again just like he did last season.

And last year Shumpert was only a rookie and here in 2012-2013 he's only been back for 8 games after suffering a devastating injury during his rookie season. When you're developing a young up and coming talent, it's called patience.
