Good to see Woodson pull the 2 of them aside in practice to work on some key aspects of the game and basketball IQ.

It sickens me the amount of times JR misses Amare on the pick n roll especially when Felton was out. Like he has no concept of it after 9yrs in the league

Woodson also wants the two of them to attack the rim finish or dish out not settle for long jumpers.

JR also says he is shooting more after practice and he had gotten away from it lately.

Also run a few sets to get Novak open on the back door so he is not just a "Decoy" Evey team kill us with back door plays why can't we use it to an advantage with Novak, JR, Shump, Felton?

I like when coach Woodson keys on on certain players weaknesses and makes sure they work on their weaknesses. Like the

LOL, what ever happened to just trying to make the best play you can. This isn't a soap opera, nobody is trying to destroy Stat.

Go Knicks

Expecting Smith to play like Harden is fools gold. Smith is an ideal 6th man. Harden is a star player.

Good to see improvement in JR's game last night. He even ran pick n roll with Amare effectively. He did a lot of driving and kicking even. 4-8 50% from the field. Woody finally pulling JR aside in practice worked!

I couldn't care less about shooting percentage, because as overall basketball players, I love what Felton, Shumpert and J.R Smith bring to the table. All three are very different players, all three have their offensive difficulties/struggles at time; but all three of these guards give their heart and soul to the hardwood. All three of these players buckle down on defense. Play with a New York City type of pride. Won't back down from anyone.

One thing is for sure in regards to our 5 guards in Felton, Shump, J.R, Kidd and Pablo. When at full strength, these guards won't back down for any team. Any guard. Any competition. Any challenge. They will never back down from a fight.

Talk up opposing guards all you like, but come postseason play, the likes of Felton, Shump, J.R, Kidd and Pablo are coming to compete here in 2012-2013. With a big such as Tyson Chandler playing behind and/or working with these guards? Watch out for our Knicks defensive come playoff basketball.

There is a different level of energy. A different level of intensity come postseason basketball. So for the fans who sit and act as if we've seen what these 2012-2013 Knicks are all about? Simply clueless minds. Kidd said it himself around the 12-14 game mark; "The regular season is only dress rehearsal". It's nice to hear about Shump and J.R working on pick and roll basketball, but come postseason play? We have 5 guards who are coming to represent New York City basketball. And they won't back down either.

You should definitely care about shooting percentage and quality of shots when it comes to JR. He will hurt us down the road if he doesn't reel himself in. Last night vs Orlando was the good JR.

He was 7/15 18 points, which yes, is a good game. But even in that game you saw some really stupid plays from him. I think after one crazy turnover Woodson even sat him for a few minutes. He's got so much talent and athleticism that it's frustrating to see him lose his concentration.

yea 7 for 15 my bad.

Yea the Hawks game was Sunday. Woodson took JR aside during Mondays practice. You could definitely see it in his play last night. When he passed to Amare on the pick n roll I almost fell to the floor

Some more positive from Woodson

Marc Berman nypost

Woodson thought Tyson Chandler may have been getting complacent since being named to his first All-Star Team last
Thursday. So he brought him into his office on Tuesday for a little talk about being more aggressive on offense, noticing slippage in the effectiveness of his screens. Chandler responded with 21 points and 5 assists last night 10 of 11. Melo said he's encouraging Chandler to take more jump shots, too. He took one yesterday from 14 feet and missed - only miss of the night. "We need him to shoot the J little more,'' Anthony said. "He’s been working on that. Anytime he gets 19-21 points, 10 of 11, we need that. That definitely puts us over the top.''

Melo and everyone else should encourage him to shoot and post. It's really a confidence thing with him imho. What other starting center doesn't shoot a little J? Asik, maybe. Against the sixers or someone he tried to post up a smaller guy and looked like a scared teenager who just started playing BBall. He is better than that and I am glad he is showing it. If he is around 4-6 ft away with good position throw your hand up chandler. You are taller and more athletic than most centers why don't you have a jump hook? Why don't you take a dribble from the ft line when you catch at the high post and your defender gives you the lane? You done it before you can do it again. Chandler shows flashes he just needs to show a little more. He doesn't need to go crazy but I'll take a 4 ft try from Chandler over a JR or who ever contested jumper. Case in point Tyson had his defender on his back 4 ft away late in the shot clock but instead of posting he set a screen for JR late in the clock and jr had to take a bad shot.

No complaints about Chandler's offense against the Magic but what bothered me was that it came at the expense of his defense. The Magic looked like they were doing layup drills for a while. It looked like Tyson was saving his energy to give Woodson what he wanted from him on offense. Has to be a better balance because the defense flows through Tyson, he sets the tone and his teammates feed off of his energy when he is playing hard nose D. We need Tyson's D this season more than we need his offense.

I liked Tyson's offense (last night) and frankly, his defense has stunk all year.

Definitely has been a drop since last year, said as much a few weeks ago. Before Chandler was making poor decisions on D but the effort was there, on and off. I saw a conscious decision in this game to sacrifice what D he does play now play for offense. Woodson should tell Tyson that defense comes first.

Pick It

In fact, Anthony has been practicing the two-man game with Tyson Chandler dating back to last season. Melo was third in the league in points per play as the pick-and-roll ball handler last year. But he ran the play only 133 times. So far this season, he's already up to 110.

"That's something we work on," Melo said. "You've got to honor Tyson rolling, you've got to honor me coming off. Some teams switch, some teams trap the pick-and-roll. That gives us more options to find Tyson or find other guys."

Overall, Anthony's court awareness on offense has looked sharper this season, especially because the ball flow has improved with Raymond Felton and Jason Kidd's help. In addition, Melo is trusting his experienced supporting cast, many of whom can hit the 3-pointer.

Case in point: They had a season-high 19 of them against the Kings on Sunday night. Melo, in fact, had only two points in the first half, but he had five assists. In two possessions, he made a heads-up skip pass to J.R. Smith for a 3-pointer, and then attacked and dished to Smith for another.

"When you've got your main scorer that can draw so much attention, and he's a great passer on top of that, that only makes your team that much stronger," Felton said.
