Answerman thought he should be shut down for the year. I had shared some similar experience with an ALC tear but you dismissed that as silly as my knee didnt play NBA games.

Hows he looking mate?

Pretty damn bouncy to me... ahhh, to be 21 again.

On that note I say start him asap. This team needs some chemistry in the rotation, and the distribution of minutes is waaaay off. People killed MDA for riding Amare into the ground here, but Melo has logged at least 40 minutes in 10 of his last 13 games (41 minutes pg in 11 games so far in Jan). Ive killed the Melo minions because their boy hasnt played much more than a lick of defense since the Christmas lights when up mid December, but how is our almost in the MVP discussion best played supposed to be focus more on defense when playing so much? Or take it to the basket for that matter?

PG Felton
SG Shump
SF Melo
PF xxx
C Chandler

bench: Kidd, Amare, JR

those are our best 7 players right now. Notice I left the starting PF out and Im curios to think what folks think of this spot.

As far as who gets those PF minutes let Novak, Camby, Kurt, Sheed all duke it out and may the guy playing the best win.

There is no reason to be playing guys 40+, especially with diminished returns.

The Answeman Never Counts His Chickens Before They Are Hatched In The Playoffs

Q. Fish mike - How's Shump Looking?

A. I am glad you asked that question. I liked the high top fade for his rehab. Not sold on it for game action. Why? When I Man drives the lane he will get hit. Anyone who has ever rocked that much style up top will testify that it requires extra care to keep it looking fresh. As the 'do absorbs the extra pounds per square inch of length it may become lopsided and throw Shumps delicate balance off.

He may need to consider a more conventional cut.

Thats how it looks to me.

StarksEwing - I Man has two days off to monitor his progress. February is a cake walk. March is the most intense schedule of the season

If Shumpert can bounce down the stretch without any knee issues, we should all give thanks to the bandy legged basketball god of good hoops.

All hands on deck.

The silly hair aside, Shump does look slightly tentative on drives to the hole.

I just hope Woody continues to bring him along slowly. We need him fresh and comfortable (if that's possible) for the playoffs.
Keep feeding Priggy and JKidd and Felton to the Jeff Teagues of the world. Let Shump watch that for most of the remainder of the season.

yeah agree, outside of that one dunk attempt in first game, very tentative.

Caution

fish.mike - you must resist the temptation to question The Answer Man, even when the opportunity feels more open than a 24 hour WalMart. The Answer Man is your friend.

Just because I Man is running the court in full stride does not mean he is all the way back. Nor does itbsignify he is ready to play long minutes in every March game. I invite you to pay closer attention and see how long Shumpert can maintain his signature cobra-like defensive backpedal.

THAT, my good man, is where he earns his chedda.

Defense.

Too be fair he blew a lot of point blank layups last year looking tentative after injuring his knee on opening night. By the end of the year he was finishing better

Shump is an athletic freak even at this level he looks good. The real Shump is probably going to come next year, Getting his mental edge and his athleticism to where it once was is going to take time.

Do you have any interest in adding something worthwhile to this forum instead of attacking other members?

Continuity

Meanwhile, back on the basketball court....

I Man Shumpert and JR The Magnificent Smith are finally getting acquainted. In a strange coincidence, so are Kobe and his running buddies. Professional basketball is rarely discussed as a not-so-distant cousin of the playground version. OTA's are prohibited, training camp lasts about 7 days before the pre season whisk around a few cities and the marathon season has more speed bumps than lower Manhattan.

We have a revolving door roster that includes nine new players, man who are still wondering where the help is coming from on defense, and a precious few who are just now learning that THEY are supposed to BE the help.

With that said, Shumpert and Smith are essential ingredients. As they go, so will go our beloved Knicks.

"Hey guys, I have an idea... let's do another trade."

I would say it apparently takes the same amount of effort to be a depressed ahole as to be a douchebag. Coincidence?

Let me know when you two are done with the definitive work on "worthwhile". So far I have:
"if we make the playoffs"
"Shump to be traded"
"first round exit fodder"

Very enlightening.
