Before the season started I made a thread over on realgm; This was my post below.

NYKMentality wrote: "Player That You're Most Looking Forward To Here In 2012-2013"

And why?

I'm going with Raymond Felton. Our starting PG. For many of reasons.

First and foremost, I believe that he's in strong position to enjoy lots of future success during his second run in N.Y. Never once during Felton's career, has Felton himself had this many offensive weapons to work with. I relate Felton's situation to an NFL quarterback being loaded with pass catching TE's along with very productive WR's on the outside. Raymond Felton is on the verge of running a very talented offense, for honestly, the first time during his NBA career.

As we all know, Felton was the PG who put us in postseason contension during our 2010-2011 season (pre-trade). Stoudemire also had one of his best NBA season's working with Felton. Felton led our offense along with the help of Amar'e (who led the way). Put up 17.1 points, 9.0 assists along with 1.8 steals per game. Which in my eyes, wasn't a small sample size either. 54 games played / 54 starts. 17.1 points and 9 assists per game? Out of Gallo, Felton and Wilson Chandler; Felton (at the time) was the player in which I wish we never traded. With Felton as our starting PG, Stoudemire himself exploded while setting a N.Y franchise record for consecutive games of 30+ points. I seen first hand, that Ray knows how to use his key offensive weapons.

17 and 9 are only numbers. Doesn't tell the entire story. Felton goes from having a rookie in Fields at the 2G position, an off and on Gallo from beyond the arc at the SF position along with an undersized (natural PF) in Turiaf at the Center position... To having a young, developing, athletic player in Shumpert at the 2G position, one of the NBA's smoothest offensive stars at the SF position in Melo along with an actual Center in Tyson Chandler who finishes anything and everything that's close to the rim. He's also on the verge of going from the likes of Wilson Chandler, a 2nd year player in Toney Douglas, Shawne Williams, Bill Walker, Timofey Mozgov and Renaldo Balkman to (here in 2012-2013) Steve Novak, J.R Smith, Jason Kidd, Ronnie Brewer (who can slash/cut) and even veteran BIG's such as Camby, Thomas and Rasheed.

To make a long story short? Felton was the player I was most looking forward to during the offseason. Loved his production before he hurt his hand (the first time) ala putting up borderline all-star numbers followed by my heart sinking once I found out Felton would be out for quite some time. As of right now? I'm simply amped about Felton's return tonight. When I heard the news that Felton was out? My heart sunk. Now, for the first time here in 2012-2013; Felton, Kidd, Shumpert, Melo, Chandler, Amar'e, J.R and Novak will play together. Can't forget a Pablo either.

In closing?

THIS IS THE DEEPEST WE'VE BEEN ALL SEASON LONG.

We're about to go on a run. A very strong run too. Look for a 20+ point victory tonight!

Hell yes! Stoudemire set a franchise record for consecutive games of 30+ points with Felton running the point during 2010-2011. Felton himself also feasted with Amar'e averaging 17.1 points and 9.0 assists per game.

Now, Felton has both Amar'e and Chandler down low ala two BIG's who can feast down low while playing off the pick and roll? Felton will always be a scoring PG, but Felton has the potential to average 10+ assists per game on a nightly basis with our current roster.

Averaged 17.1 points and 9.0 assists with the likes of Fields (2G), Gallo (SF), Amar'e (PF) and Turiaf (C), Wilson (6th).

Now he'll have Kidd (2G), Shumpert (2G/SF), Melo (SF/PF), Amar'e (PF), Chandler (C), J.R (6th) and Novak (sharp shooter)?

Sky now becomes the limit for Felton and our Knicks offense!

So excited for this game.
I expect a win, and I expect Melo to have a noticable better shooting performance now that Felton's back. And he's not the only one.
Felton might not have a great game himself, but what he brings will make others better.

And yes, as NYKMentality pointed out, this is the deepest we have been all season. If they can stay healthy and Sheed/Camby come back we should be seeing the true strength of this team.

What was his FG percentage before he hurt his hand? My point exactly. Also what's been our record since Felton's been out? 6-6? Exactly.
