Let's assume the Knicks get pretty deep in the playoffs, but ultimately fall short of a title. Our roster would likely be pretty similar moving into next season, but what realistic additions could we make to improve our chances and fill a role in the rotation, or even starting lineup? I'm thinking Dejaun Blair, who is a FA, could be had for cheap this offseason and would be a nice addition at the 4. He could either start next to Melo or come off the bench, but either way he brings more than Camby, KT, etc in terms of toughness, scoring, rebounding, etc. Also, Channing Frye could be had for cheap via trade. He could be nice because he's a stretch-4, making him an ideal fit with Melo. I will assume Melo, Chandler, Felton, and Shumpert all stay put and start next season, and Smith, Stoudemire, Kidd, and Novak return as key rotation players. The forward spot next to Melo might be up for grabs, so what other realistic players could be had to fill a role?

Depends on which of our vets retire and which don't. When we know that, I can better answer. I wouldn't mind an athletic big off the bench with some rebounding skills. That seems to be our biggest deficiency (partly due to injuries).
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I agree a young PG to backup Felton and young freakish athletic big.

Being over the cap the Knicks only have the LLE $3mil at their disposal not the full $5.5mil MLE. So whatever that nets them. Melo, Amare, Tyson is the team for the forseeable future not sure if we will see a championship for as long as Lebron is a Heat

Elton Brand would a great pick up to start next to Melo and TC, plus the knicks should be able to draft a really good back up point guards like Phil Pressey, Myck Kabongo, Pierre Jackson, Nate Wolters in the up coming draft.

Can't remember he last time I saw Kabongo suit up lol I like him , but he and Wolters probably need at least a season before they're ready to contribuet. Pressey would be an awesome addition tho. I don't think he's a star, but I think he'd be a good backup for us right now.

Yeah, we are just talking about a back up. I've watched a little of Pressey, I think he is good. Briggs swears by Wolters, he's probably a decent back up if we were to draft him. PJ looks like he could be a Jameer Nelson off the bench right away.

Mostly going off the feelings on the draft, seems to be one were you are mostly to get a backup and their are a good number of solid point guards. I would just make I scouted the guys mostly likely to help as soon as they get here.

I just watched Pressey play UF last week and he got ate up by Scottie Wilbekin. Wilbekin maybe the best defensive guard in the SEC. If he continues to develop on O and he is he could be an Avery Bradley clone. Dude's been a defensive pest since he step on a college floor.

Think he would be a good second round pick??? I've never heard of him.

Not this year unless he just blows up late. He played behind two upperclassmen Kenny Boyton and Erving Walker(NYC. Up until this year he was more of a defensive guy/spot up guy/back up point. This year he is the pg and is balling. Since his time at UF he has been able to guard any wings even ones you have him by 3-4 inches. He is only 6'2 or 6'3 but he just knows how to play D. This year he is just showing his pg skills. He also started college early skipping his senior year so he is a very young junior.

Free agent wise? If yhey have the same team? Goodbye James White, possibly Sheed. Hello Ron Artest, John Salmons, or Trevor Ariza to start at the SF spot. A solid backup PG/Backup SG to ween us off of Kidd-if not Kirk Hinrich a guy like him.

I don't want any soft guys anymore, with paper thin skins,

This team desperately needs a bruiser, World Peace is best choice, but then we are playing the nursing home game again, ideally you want someone younger,

We'll see, to be honest with you, I'm holding out hope for an Amar'e deal before the deadline, we need to get rid of dead weight

Don't hold your breath on a Stat deal. Plan on him being here for the remainder of this year as well as the next. If this experiment with his D ever produces results, he may be here until his next contract comes up.
