Syracuse will retire the jersey of former star Carmelo Anthony later this season.

Anthony led Syracuse to the national championship as a freshman in 2003.

Anthony was named the Big East's Rookie of the Year and the Most Outstanding Player at the Final Four.

Its great that he is having his jersey retired. He was a great player there and continues to give back to that community.

Congrats to Melo and Syracuse retiring Melo's jersey was a must.

Melo, as a freshman, led Syracuse to their first (and only) NCAA National Championship.

Melo's a great one.

We should be proud of this as knick fans because He is a knick and "will lead us to a championship?"

We should be proud of an event that has yet to happen or be earned?

Syracuse fans can have it. Im not ashamed of him but in 2 seasons I can say I like the guy, but he has yet to do anything to elevate the team to any special acheivement?

This is the Starphuck equivalent of fans getting a participation trophy

Well, either way, I don't know how the hell these guys are playing in low tops

I played in low tops for ONE GAME in rec league in 2012 and I ended up spraining my ankle, fracturing my shin and spraining my knee,

seems silly to retire a guy's jersey who played one year, but silly and the NCAA are redundant. Cant think of a one and done athlete that has done more the school than Melo.

I dont really get celebrating a guy who didnt even graduate, but like I said... thats just the system.

Lets retire Mooby's number now since he will lead us to a championship.

In fact, Lets jut print the t-shirts now! Im just swelling with pride already!

IN fact, got a little hop in my step, and just freaking all perky today thinking about it!

Is this what we do in the "mecca"? Is this what the "smartest fans in the world" do?

Maybe some of us are not so "Somber" but others are "irrationally exuberant"?

Its not my decision to retire his number and thats not what Im shytting on. Thats for Syracuse to do what they want to do. The kid is a top 5 perennial allstar having a great season with his team who is doing very well in a weak ass conference. Thats my take as a knick fan.

For some who went off on the hype created in Brooklyn having not accomplished anything it seems like being up 2.5 games on them at this point is not the conclusive chest thumping moment to declare superiority.

"Melo is a knick and will lead us to a championship"

Lets just bronze him and put a statue out now? Why wait? Or make it out of gold?

Believe Melo donated $3 million to Syracuse to build a new practice facility. Just winning the title as a freshman, brought in alot of money for the University, and drum up alot of recruits.

It's pretty deserved.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt
