This guy deserves it in the 'Cuse!

I suppose they wait 10 years which is not a bad idea.

He had a short Career as an OrangePerson but a good one!

He had built a practice facility which he donated like 3mm to!

Its a good college story and nice he has a great legacy there.

Via new NY Daily News......

Carmelo Anthony will have his jersey retired by Syracuse later this season.

The Knicks star, who helped lead the Orange to a National Championship as a freshman in 2003, will be honored during halftime of a game at the Carrier Dome sometime next month, according to a report by ESPN.com

Anthony’s No. 15 has not been worn since he left the school following the 2003 season and he will have the chance to address the crowd during the ceremony.

He will become the 10th player to have his jersey retired by the university

BTW, "StarMooby" is not to degrade him or his accomplishment. Its the Idol worship some knick fans bestow upon his star.

You're a joke mister poet.

StarMooby [noun, Old English] 1. descriptive nomenclature applied to a certain New York team's oft-berated Starphucque, normally used in slang, or posts begrudgingly indicating the fact that a) Melo is a star of sorts, b) those of the Somber persuasion are still fixated on the fatboy thing. 2. derogatory term utilized by N*yets fans who despite a piss hardon for Bropez's mannipples, still maintain that Melo's bresses are more pronounced than they should be. 3. term utilized to somehow create an amorphous link between a certain all-star SF to a certain vaseline-consuming ex-all star PG.

In the Movie "Dogma" Mooby is the golden calf. Old testimate tells of "worship of a false idol".

Being one not in favor of the Melodrama trade and the grotesque "im coming home" celebration of his arrival before he has done anything its my antagonistic and sarcastic dig at the most intense Melofan.

Year one our break down and departure was not his fault, our team was depleted.
Year two the same. I faulted him for being out of shape and not playing for his coach. Credit goes for him playing for Woodson and having a great year. He is EARNING THE RESPECT THAT WAS GRANTED HIM.

He had a great season in Syracuse and in the modern era even though he played just one season he is deserving.

But there is just one part of me that makes me laugh at one man center court, being worshiped by 50,000 people for being one member of team game who played one season......

When...........

Jerry Mcnamera played 4 seasons and never missed a game. As a freshman also he was clutch and instrumental in the NCAA run. He hit 6 3pters in teh first half to build an 18 pt that held up dispite Kansas comeback.

No doubt Melo was the star of that season with an avg of 22 pts but make no mistake they don't win a title without Mcnamera or Hakim Warrik.

McNamera finished 4th on the all time scoring list. In the rich history of Syracuse ball thats a pretty good list. He never made it to play in the NBA and now is an assistant coach at Syracuse.

His number should be retired as well. Not a star but his clutch shooting got them thru the tournament and the championship. Team game. Member of a championship team. Assistant coach.

Im not saying Melo does not deserve it, but Gerry does also.

GEEZ, talk about inside joke Nalod! I've seen Dogma awhile ago and I wouldn't have gotten the reference at all.

Next time, a little background would help. I'm guessing alot of posters here probably haven't seen that movie.

Actually pretty damn funny stuff!.

Its not derogatory to Melo him self but more to the Starphuchers who bestow hero worship upon him before he actually earned it. Same went for StarBury. Grown men worshiping these guys because of their starpower rather than accomplishment on the court.

Have not heard a peep from me about nets all season. I'll watch them but no fanboy fawning. Nalod actually likes melo and you won't catch me be critical. The kid is earning his stripes. He is not my favorite knick but im not 12 years old either.

He is deservingly in "the Discussion". Nalod won't chant "MVP" until the last 10 games of the season.

I'll eat a bowl of Honey Nut cheerios in his honor.

This Nalods MO...he picks a player from the team and rags on him to no end....but does it because he thinks it bothers other members on this board.

I, personally, don't respond because I know he's old and probably just bored, at home, while recovering from whatever bone he broke from playing tennis with the other tenants at the retirement home. Nothing else to do but make these cute little thread for some attention....you have a young soul, Nalod. Keep'em coming

Congratulations to Melo. Only 1 year at Cuse, but he has stayed part of the family (couple summer Olympics with Boeheim doesn't hurt either).

Hopefully they announce the game relatively soon - would love to try and hunt down some tickets.

Not ragging on Melo, ragging on starphuchers who fail to realize its a team game.

I never ragged on him, and never held him responsible for any disappointment.

read and comprehend. I said he deserved it, but so does mcnamera!

In the other thead it shows pics of Melo. Its a team game.

You just did respond and did so with a personal attack. Unless your take starphuching personal you basically stooped to name calling.

BTW, you'd be happy to know I had a type 2 hamstring tear but I should be good to go for my ski trip to Utah with my lovely wife the end of february. Just have to keep going to PT. I been going to the gym to stay in shape.

Life is good at the home BTW.

I stated my M.O., and you stated yours:

YOu don't read and you lie.

I don't rag on melo to no end. I rag on the idol worshipers who don't appreciate the game but instead promote individual stars.

Papa, Cooch and others that were captivated by the 70's era of ball movement know what IM taking about. For me its not about "oak" or "starks", it was about the team.

I dig the ball moving that we are doing this season and the defense. Im right here rooting for the team but not telling fables and let the games speak for themselves.

Thats MY M.O.

The man who has made it a habit to catergorize members on this board, and constantly "attack" them by stereotyping them by whatever silly names he comes up with, now feels attacked....funny

"I rag on the idol worshipers.." ~Nalod

Maybe by you saying that you were "peronally attacked" you hope the MODS will come to your rescue?

If a member wants to worship, idolize, congratulate, etc., Melo..that's their right. Who the hell are you to say otherwise or "rag" on them for doing so?

by the way...I noticed you trying to hijack Papas "melo jersey retirement" thread with this Mooby nonsense....again...very mature.

One isn't even in the association and the other is making his rounds to different teams as trade bait, only Melo excelled at the next level

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.
