You go got to wonder if Portland stayed close to home(Hotel) during New Year Eve, but the knicks knew all the jumping hot spots to go to and celebrate 2013.

Kidd did have a DUI, Jr admitted he liked to party alot last year. Fellas we just might have a problem concerning nightlife.

Everybody can't handle success in NYC as a professional athlete.

When we were playing well maybe guys went home after games, but once the fans started telling the players how great they were playing it could have went to their heads and they went out into the night life to celebrate more often who knows.

It's definitely something to consider. Injuries notwithstanding, these bad starts and playing comeback-ball are happening a bit too frequently.

Nope- I thought before hand that JR would be out partying, but he played great. Brewer, Kurt, Prigs and Novak played poorly but they don't seem the partying type. Melo played great, no way Amar'e would risk partying with his debut the next day. Only player who might have would be Kidd. I think it's just lack of practice, fatigue and injury that are to blame.

We are the oldest team in NBA and so having all injuries in the world to old players and to not-so old who should compensate for slow legs around them.

“J.R. Smith, in responding to Knicks coach Mike Woodson’s remarks that he has become ‘more professional’ this season, candidly admitted he partied too much last season, swept away by Manhattan’s bright lights. ‘I’m not going to lie,’ Smith said. ‘The New York City nightlife pretty much got to me. I was going out pretty much every other night and not focused on the task at hand.’

Who else might like to go out in NY White or maybe Marcus Camby ?

Felton who came in great shape this year, you think he likes the lights at night.

You think Chandler(FLU) always goes home after games ?

Athletes like to have a good time when they aren't on the court. This is a fact of life. But sometimes, they can spend too much time partying and not enough time being a professional.

Absolutely. Spree was busted for playing his music too loud.

Any other current evidence about the present Knicks would be welcome. Otherwise, this thread title is pure garbage.

I don't think of Camby as a party animal- seems more like a family guy. Felton is a country guy, he says he prefers staying in watching movies than going out. Chandler seems pretty wise and mature, don't really see him over doing the partying either.

Come on Mr Earl, being successful in NY can bring out the worst in some
not all athletes. Everybody knows where the parties are in NY, but they also know how to keep a low profile. JR admitted his, this is usally not the nor, players usually wait until they finish playing to spill all their dirty laundry.

The way he shot last night (0-5), it appears that Steve Novak was out partying too much.

Our designated shooter makes just one shot and we beat Portland.

Just one.

If Kidd is considered a leader (coach on the court) and he can run his Escalade into a telephone pole and into the woods around 2 a.m in the morning. He was drinking too much before the season even started.

Then I bet he was the perfect soldier for the most part, but now that he's settled in and the knicks got off to a great start old habits could have crept up on him.

playa - this speculation is a waste. Why? Because these are professional athletes and not a boys choir. These are everyday people with everyday flaws. They are guaranteed to make mistakes, just like we all do. If any player decides to attend one party during the eight month marathon of the season, who are we to question their choice as grown azz men? We are not a team of felons. They are just a group of young/older men.

So long as they are never late for practice, stay away from illegal substances, shady characters and are nice to their moms', I could care less where they hang, what they consume or who they screw.

damn near all of our key players are married, with felton and Amare having done so months last yr..

Aside from that we have a bunch of veterens on our team who have been playing for a while, don't think partying is our problem..

I don't think I mentioned Novak, I was more concerned about slow starts, that where the partying could come into play.

If one should speculate, what would our Party Line Up look like?

PG - Off Season Kidd
SG - JR
SF - ? (Melo?)
PF - ? (STAT?)
C - ? (Camby?)

Sixth Man/Partystarter/DJ - Shump.

Hypeman/Weed Supplier - Rashweed

Never said these guys were felons or not normal human beings, what we are addressing here is unusual slow starts for a professional basketball team located in NYC.

We all know players are normal, JR said he knew he was so good that he could get away with it and still show up.

New Years Eve and road trips can easily turn into a fun time for pro athletes, some know how to mask it better than others.

I don't think Woodson changed his no nonsense approach , but maybe some of the players changed some of their professional dedication.

Let's agree to disagree, NYC is not a city that many professional athletes can handle during a season.

They said there had been other complaints in the past. My guess is Spree has quite the booming system.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Brewer and Kurt Thomas must've partied way too much during new years eve
