Copeland is a sniper.

If shooting 52 per cent(45 from three) is not a sign, someone please tell me what is.

Forget the knock on his defense. Dude is a rookie. Rookies gotta learn.

Put him at the three and leave him alone, except for a routine bashing from Mike Woodson, who despises rookies. Can a broths get any consideration on minutes for being 28 years old?

Shift du Crazy Comeback

Prigioni, 9 assists in 39 seconds
Mr Smith, relentless on defense
Cope, wheelin' and dealin'
Novak, offense/ Camby, defense (and to compensate for Cope's rebounding deficiency)
Chandler, taking the 10 foot jumper more often

Chris Copeland is listed at 6'8. He could be closer to a Charles Barkley-like 6'4. It must be the extra hair.

Big things come in small packages.

Woodson takes after his first NBA coach, Knicks legend Red Holzman, with the philosophy rookie types should not have too large a role.

“I remember playing for a great coach in Red Holzman,’’ Woodson said. “He taught me rookies were to sit, listen and learn. He taught me a valuable lesson way back when. I listened and learned a lot as a rookie.’’

I dont think he hates Cope but he just might not have much faith in a rookie

Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

Actually, Woody does seem like he gets frustrates with Cope in practice- if you look at the best of Woodson wired video:

http://www.msg.com/teams/knicks.html

He gets annoyed at Cope not practicing at 'game speed' on a lyaup and tells him off. Ironically, I think that is Copes game speed, which is what led to the block on him by the 5ft 10 player last night- Woody won't be happy about that!

He gets frustrated with rookies who have defensive breakdowns, don't rebound and turn the ball over. Although Copeland has given the Knicks a lot more defensively than Brewer the past few games. He started Shump because he plays great defense

Rookies are gonna mess up

smacke - Cope makes the breakaway and the Knicks are in a better position to win the game.

Woodson was ready to yank him on the spot. Cope goes down and drains a jumper.

Crazy.

Stop it man. Woodson doesn't play rookies heavy minutes.

Nothing to read into. Woodson doesn't like mistakes.

Cope played 41 minutes last night and 30 in Phoenix. Hea-vee.

Cope will get minutes. Definitely over Brewer and maybe even Novak come Tuesday when Amare and Melo return

Woody's dislike for Rookies are well documented by his own admission. You want old school, you got old school.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

Old School

Between the imminent (sometime around Inauguration Day) return of Stoudemire, and the unpredictable personality of Carmelo's knee, Cope will log significant minutes at forward.

While Amare and Melo are receiving treatment, any cameo of Camby and Chandler as the "not in my house" frontline translates into Cope being deployed as the skill forward. Sheed will also add to the infinite combinations Woodson can devise.

We have an answer for everything.

How awesome was it to watch Camby swatting shots last night?! Oh man, I missed having a shot blocker!

Blame Red Holzman , he left that imprint on Woodson as a player.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I thought Tyson had a pretty good year defensively last year.

But yeah... it's great to see Camby doing his thing. In the city where he belongs!

Best Five Start

Prigioni, accustomed to starting, let him start and pick and roll with Chandler and Cope
Kidd, just to set the tone for 7 good minutes, "JR get ready"
Cope, Woodson changes his mind, early buckets
Camby, just for the ovation, no layups
Chandler, see Camby

Next

JR, dupin' and hoopin'
Brewer, defense
White, defense
Novak, see Cope
Sheed, see Camby

I watched the replay a couple of times, it was either Copeland or Tyson Chandler that was suppose to get out of the paint to defend the 3point shot last game

Copeland is closer to a PF than SF because of his ability to defend the position, they were not comfortable stepping out the guard that 3pointer, James Johnson made

Regardless, it was a great comeback, and Kidd's legs/gas ran out towards the end, especially with him playing more PG on both ends
It sucked that we "should have won it" but didn't complete the comeback

Copeland was caught in no man's land. Wally pointed it out in the post game. I agree Cope is a PF.

Same for Novak, Novak just doesn't have the speed/athleticism/quickness or the ability to defend 99% of the small forwards in the NBA.
He has a better shot defending a PF that would try to pound him with some help DEF and fighting for position
Not saying Novak is a PF but he has a better shot defending a undersized PF than a quick/athletic SF...

Damn, u responded quickly to my post guns...
