That was a fear here with our age. Once a player went down--it puts just that much more burden on the next guy--so now we have a spiraling effect that is starting to take a major toll. It will help greatly when we get back Amare and Shump(hopefully) but I think a non-producing player like Brewer needs to be let go and see if we can bring in a healthy ball handler. If anyone believes J Kidd wasnt exhausted in the last two minutes--if JR wasnt done--dead wrong. We ran the guys into the ground and while they madea great comeback--it fell short in a game we shouldve won. We need to make decisions to keep our players fresh and not overextended even through injury--or else this will cycle all year and by the time the playoffs are here--well be done.

I think something might be wrong with Brewer. The guy I would let go would be White. Someone posted that Jordan Farmar is a free agent. If so he would be a great pick up for the Knicks in my opinion.

Jordan Farmar signed a three-year deal with Anadolu Efes in Turkey.Farmar was waived by the Hawks after being acquired in the Joe Johnson trade, and now he'll take his talents abroad and play in Turkey. Farmar previously averaged 14.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists while playing for Maccabi Tel Aviv during the lockout. From rotoworld.

What you said Briggs was my concern and as you said, many peoples' concern here as well. Luckily, Stat is coming back and Shump around the corner. Really, we have to hope come the playoffs that we have enough chemistry going and no injuries, to make a run. We have pretty close to the talent we need to compete for the title.

I know they really are, guys are coming back right on schedule . Sheed is even supposed to be back New Years day.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I think the Knicks did this just right. The injuries don't seem to be coming from increased minutes. Just freak accidents. Breaking a pinky and hyper-extending a knee when someone falls on it isn't preventable. If you're going to go with vets at least make sure you have a lot of them. So far we've been able to weather the injury storm pretty well. Woody is managing minutes very well. We've gotten some good minutes out of Copeland. If not for Brewer slumping lately things would look even better. My guess is Brewer has some kind of issue he's dealing with.

Anyway right now with Melo, STAT and Shump coming back I think things will smooth out in terms of our depth. Camby has been looking better and better as he gets his game back. I think it was a worthwhile risk going with these older players.

This.

I think Woodson and Grunwald know that the thing that really matters is having a team at full strength for the playoffs, with the rotation down pat. If we do that and also get at least the No. 2 seed, that's pretty sweet.

If you look at the 10 guys who figure to play come playoff time, there are no scrubs at all in that mix. That is a veteran, talented, well-rounded bunch, with excellence on offense and defense. The problem so far has been that we've been missing up to 5 (or maybe even 6) of those 10 guys at times this year, meaning some, uh, lesser players have had to play key minutes.

I think we have been smart dealing with the injuries, giving Melo all the time he needs, taking it slow with Camby and Sheed, etc.

And, by the way, I am very excited about Camby. He is looking good already. I think he can be a big factor for us down the road, as I still expect that when we are at full strength, defense will be our calling card.

Well the update for today is: Melo (knee), Tyson (sprained ankle), Kidd (rest day) and Sheed (foot) didn't practice today. Shump did some non-contact stuff. Amar'e practiced and says he's not at 80% yet, but he'll know if he's able to play vs Blazers maybe after tomorrow. He says his knee still hurts when making certain movements and doesn't want to cause further injury by overcompensating.

Basically we practiced with 9 players today and an assistant coach.

I am starting to think Amare will never play without knee pain again.

Yeah, if his knee is arthritic, then I'm not sure what he's expecting- no point in sitting out waiting for the pain to go away because it probably isn't going to. If however it is just an after effect of the surgery then you may as well wait til he's 100%.

I wonder if Amare could have the treatment Kobe and Jeffries had on their knees. Not sure if it is effective after micro fracture surgery.

Agree....You let White go before Brewer. Eventhough I would love to see him represent the Knicks in the dunk contest. And I think even at his age, he has some potential on the defensive end.

We all know Brewer can't hit a jumper, but he's our best superstar defender. When Brewer goes out, you bring in JR Smith to guard Lebron?, Kobe?

That recipe hasn't worked yet....I don't care how many fadeaway jumpers JR hits.....When he has to guard our of position, it hurts us on both ends.

We need to find more Brewer types with a jumper (like Wilson Chandler). Brewer guards the best swingman on every team. This is Whites opportunity to show that he can guard the Lebrons and Kobe's.....Otherwise, you will continue to see JR and Felton playing out of position on defense.

Shump should be a major help in this area. But I rather he lock down the PG's and SG's.

We need a defender at the SF position....Brewer is our best option right now! He needs to start releasing the ball earlier on that jumpshot. He's waiting until he comes down with the ball before he shoots. Thats why it's so flat. I thought we had an assistant coach to fix this? He's jumper is going back to how it was in Chicago.....

True... True...
Carmelo Anthony (hyperextended left knee) did not practice Sunday but did spend time shooting. The Knicks are listing him as day to day. ... Tyson Chandler (sprained right ankle) did not practice but was expected to play against the Trail Blazers. “I’m sure I’ll have Tyson for that game,” Mike Woodson said. ... Rasheed Wallace (stress fracture in his left foot) did not practice and was listed as day to day. Woodson said he was not sure if Wallace would practice Monday. ... Chris Copeland (bruised right hand) practiced, and iman Shumpert (left knee) did conditioning work. “He had a lot of pop in his step, but he couldn’t do any contact work yet,” Woodson said of Shumpert, who had surgery in May.

I agree with BRIGGS. We need to keep the balance or Kidd is gonna be useless come playoff time.
