I know that knick fans think this is not even close but its getting closer and Asik is getting better and better.

Asik: 10.9 PPG, 11.6 RPG, 50% FG, 1.2 BLK

Chandler: 12.6 PPG, 9.9 RPG, 69% FG, .9 BLK

Defense obviously goes to chandler though he has been sliding here. Asik is a much better rebounder and has the edge with blocked shots. Asik is also young and should get much better offensively. For now, Chandler is FAR more efficient.

Last night (Asik):

20 points, 18 rebounds, 3 blocks and a whopping +41!!

Win Shares (this is a bit perplexing):

Asik - .089
Chandler - .256!!

asik has a lot of upside but he does have a better offensive game, and is a better rebounder than chandler.. my problem with asik is that he often does not dunk the ball around the basket and that causes him to miss a lot of easy shots.. chandler looks to dunk whenever he can and that is huge for me... otherwise, I think asik does everything else better than chandler at this point.... I will give chandler a slight edge on man defense at this point.

I think every topic and post on these boards should be about the Rockets

I never thought Asik had it in him, but he's definitely proven me wrong. Thought he was product of Chicago's system, but he's a solid young defensive center.

That said (Flu Tyson aside), numbers don't define Chandler. He's an intangible guy, a glue guy, a well respected guy, emotional leader. Flaws aside, he brings it on and off the court. Asik is turning into a very nice player, don't think he's there quite yet though.

Asik is still learning offense though he is a bit soft around the basket. He will improve.

The TS difference at this point is what really sets them apart (71 vs 54)

The WS shouldn't be surprising. That's basically saying he's putting up average numbers. We can break it down:
Rebounding: Way above average
Turnovers: much worse than average (especially for a C)
Everything else: about average

He's young and a great prospect though. He had a brutal start on offense but has been steadily improving. I'd love to have him on this team.
BTW, his wins produced are a little better at .122. WP gives more weight to rebounding than WS does.

he is not there yet but he has a chance to make all star teams while chandler has yet to do that. Upside is a nice thing to have

There's been something wrong with Tyson all season, he's not playing defense the way he did last year or the year before. I think he might be tired after playing a lot of minutes during a condensed season last year and playing in the Olympics instead of being able to rest.

Asik's been really good for Houston and I'm guessing Chicago regrets not matching that contract (that sounds familiar). Asik's a better at rebounding, never Tyson's strongest skill, and he's probably been better defensively than Tyson so far this season. But, I'd wait until after the All-Star break when Tyson will hopefully be getting some rest and the returns for Camby, Sheed, and Amare will allow us to reduce Tyson's minutes.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

I think Tyson's not contesting shots the way he did in the past out of necessity. Too keep himself fresh, to be a PnR option, and to stay out of foul trouble at the same time. Knicks lack of healthy bigs is a definitely one of the reasons.

I think once Marcus can actually log some major minutes, Sheed stops wearing Air Force 1s, and Amare is finally here, it'll allow Tyson to be "Tyson" and be more agressive defensively.

I don't know. Last season our backups were Jared Jeffries and Josh Harrelson and he played much better defensively even when Amare was hurt.

Excluding Shumpert, we had Toney Douglas, Mike Bibby, Baron Davis and Jeremy Lin all getting blown by so Chandler had more shot blocking opportunities.

Ha! I do sometimes wonder what would happen on these boards if Lin consistently outplayed Felton AND Gallo consistently outplayed Melo IN THE SAME MONTH!

Gallo going 1-10 in a loss does not help the cause.

Lin going 20 and 11 assists on 8-12 shooting does.
