this is EXACTLY what the knicks need. two big versatile young athletic talented wing players who can play 1-2-3

the scary part is if you are a knick fan we will be the team that goes after the max player in Finley who is 32 and has a max contract and we'll end up throwing in sweetney to get him on top of that most fans will be happy because they are brainwashed after following the knicks and ranbers for 20 years! we want other teams players who have a history of injury make 20mm$ are 32+ years old on the other side of the hill!

come on isiah bring in chris webber and mike finley!!!!!!!!! so they can play 50 games each and there is a built in excuse for 2-3 more years!

now now... settle down. What makes you think Isiah has any interest in the broken down Layden types? Because he got Penny? We all know that was the throw in that let us get Marbury.

I would be happy with Hakeem Warrik in this draft, but the reality is we may not pick anyone.

Its not layden, its dolan!

If Marbury's ankle (both surgically repaired) were to blow out and he missed a season, you'd have a worse than Dice situation as we gave up 2 no. 1 picks and basically two future lotto prospects (Lampe and milos are lottery type players at some time).

And we added 100mil to salary.

Stop blaming Laydog, this is Isiahs team as house was cleaned at a PRICE.

The future is NOW with this team. With Marbury we were .500, thats it. We were only 3 games out of the playoffs on Dec 22nd.

Last year we barely missed the playoffs.

YEs we are much better on roster, and yes the team has nice look to it from the LAYDEN era, but what mr. briggs is saying that dispite all the stocked talent on Dallas, its two rookies, unhearalded rookies that are keeping that that team together. When they shed parts, they will look to the knicks to pick up a star player with a huge contract.

This has been going on for 27 years! The Ewing Era was filled with such garbage, not developing any home grown inexpesive talent.

I agree with briggs. This is not about "REAL FANS", its about REAL TEAMS. and the knicks are an entertainment company first whose job is to offer an exciting product to fill seats. Winning is not a priority. You have to win more than we did earlier this year, but who knows how things would have turned out. Last year the team did nice with little, and chaney did an good job, and we picked up youth. If the season tanked, we could hope that Frank, sweets, and lampe would have gotten good minutes, and we'd be top 5 lotto pick.

Or Laydog would have gotten Marbury, and MAYBE paid less for him. Who knows, but defending Isiah blindly is not all its cracked up to be. Its more different from Laydog than it is much better. Its dolan thats constant, and hence no shift in philosophy.

But here we are, and I do hope we make the playoffs. no reason in this day where 4 teams below .500 can make the playoffs, and the team we have that cannot happen. All this talk about beating NJ is bull as we might not hold onto 7th, or 8th for that matter.

Not make playoffs nor the lottery is a joke. No matter the excuse.

the reality of becoming a really good team is you must endure some bad times and pick up some real good young talent--some of that is luck but most of it is the skill of the of the person putting the talent together.

im giving isiah a chance the mistake to let lampe go in that deal was just plain horrible, it still really sticks in my gut. the marbury trade is fine-even if we give up a lotto pick under 3 giving away milos fine and a future 1 fine.. but anyone with league pass who has watched lampe over the pas two weeks knows what i am talking about. I think what he will end up being is a mobile 5 who can shoot it from the outside like laimbeer and he has much more natural talent and size than laimbeer. i mean i watch darko and lampe and its plain and simple who is the advanced player with more talent--lampe. if anyone thinks lampe is not a number 1 pick they are kidding themselves

marbury is a great player but right now we need a LOT of players who will fill the bill long term with him. id like to see most of the guys on this roster gone

i think isiah will turn to the light this offseason, i hope he does. if we see a deal that includes sweetney and ending contracts going for a mike finley--then we know the dark side is here to stay. hey youll have some hope watch the game and you might see 1-2 rounds of playoff basketball -atleast when the yankess spend twice as much as anyone else their goal is to win it all. were mega light years from anything like that. first we'll need to just get rid of h2O penny and KT[i dont even count baker] and reconstruct the backcourt, while reconstructing the frontcourt. i think the twin towers will be built a lot quicker. let me see by the time the olympics roll around to NY-we may have it right:>)

I totally agree there.. no doubt about it. When you look at the type of players Isiah has favored in the past I like our chances of going in the right direction.

I do disagree you have have to be bad to be good. The Pacers are the perfect example. They drafted HS kids (late) and made a trade for an established veteran (was DD even an all star?) for Oneil who averaged 4/4 over 4 years and never cracked the rotation.

My feeling is Isiah still wants one more vet, and inside player like Webber or Rasheed, but the rest will be young guys. This way he is assured of having a good team and staying in the Garden's graces, but also can draft and trade for his kind of guys (and projects) without constantly being under the microscope.

I am kinda hoping that the Knicks do get into the playoffs and Kurt has a run to remember. I see Marbury and Kurt running the pick and roll to death, with TT speading the floor (if healthy). When he gets into a rhythm, the guy can shoot the lights out.

And that would enable the Knicks to trade him while holding a good hand.

The biggest reason I want to go into the playoffs and have a nice run is to boost the stock of our players on this roster.
Primarily Kurt Thomas and Moochie Norris.
I want Moochie off the team so Frank gets real minutes next season.
I think Hardaway makes a more than adequate emergency backup should Frank or Marbury go down for an extended period of time.
Kurt... he just seems like e does just enough to get by.
The man lacks fire.. or so it seems...
I want to bring in players with Intensity...
A nice playoff run would equip Isiah with some nice options come the offseason.

exactly... a playoff run just increases the value of our assets. Losing 4 straight to Indy doesnt do much though... I think we really need to get the #7 where we can matchup better against the Nets.

Ahm, any of you guys know one succesfull rebuild aside from the Grizz who have been "rebuilding" for years before one good season? Those Bulls sure are great. But hey, everyone knows that "next year" they will surely break out. Atlatna and the Wiz are also built to be such monsters. Clippers never spent money aside from this year, and that was not that much, and oh man how good their team is. There is nothing wrong with getting high paid players if they are good. And stop with the nonsense of two lottery picks with Lampe and Vujanic. They were high potential 2nd rounders, deal with it. Anybody who defends Layden and Chaney is a moron. Chaney did a good job last year? I'm sorry but anybody who says that either did not watch the games or knows very little about bball.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?
