Regardless of his stats (which are a little better this year but, yes, have been pretty good on awful teams as well), Lee is playing better, smarter, ball this year. No, he's not a serious defensive threat but his off-ball movement is quite good, he's starting to do some tricky defensive blocking moves, mostly with Klay Thompson, and he's doing all the little stuff he's always done but just a bit more efficiently.
...GSW pretty much have the same record as we do...
Yup. And the Warriors are doing it without Bogut (a solid player) and Rush (a solid bench player). They are playing three rookies (Barnes, Ezeli, and Green), two solid role players (Jack and Landry), and then Curry, Lee, and Thompson. That's about it. Jefferson is down and he wasn't contributing much in the first place. Biedrins, Jenkins, Blazemore, and Tyler average a few, like 5, minutes a game. Lee is the old man on the Warriors. I'd be surprised if they finish the year with 50% wins--mostly because one injury to a starter at this point, will hurt--but winning half of their games, considering what they have to work with, would be an accomplishment. Also, assuming things continue to go well, the Warriors are in great shape to refine the team, flesh out the bench, add another PF, and end up a competitive team in the West. They aren't close to having the kind of talent that OKC and the Clippers have but they might get their in a few years. Also, for now, Jackson is getting a lot of the big-picture coaching just right, even if his actual game plans are probably something along the lines of "What Steph said."
