I've been hearing so much talk about JC being the leading 6th man, and not a peep about jr.

While JC has been shooting well, his defense is still suspect and he doesn't rebound like JR.
Im not sure why jr isn't in the discussion. I know his shooting % has been suspect, his overall play has been more instramental then anything JC is doing, and I actually like JC.

But if you had a choice coming into this season, who would you pick up..

Crawford's defense is terrible. Woodson would be yanking him from games constantly.

Crawford is a better scorer though.

Didn't we experience Crawford already? He's doing nicely where he is. Let Dlee Lin and the other's careers lie where they be.

Who would you rather have, the warm Alba-looking model in your bed right now, or some barhag who gave you a hummer during a frat party 5 years ago?

The man's offensive rebounding, for the love of cheese. He's playing D. He literally shot us back into the Nets game singlehandedly, and not with ill-advised threes with 20 seconds on the shotclock, but with nicely placed step back j's. Or maybe they were confusing JR with Novak during the play by play at the end of that first half?

Why would you want to reuse toilet paper when you have a nice fresh roll right in front of you?

JR giveth and JR taketh away on offense, but the one constant is effort and defense.

Jamal gifted scorer, but never a lockdown type defender. He actually played under Woodson in ATL, but I give the slight edge to JR since that's Woody's adopted son and pet project.

Slight edge to JR because he is a better stronger defender like others pointed out when focused

If Crawford defended like JR he'd be the best 2 guard in the league right now, no?
Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Probably. For a guy with such god given scoring talent, he just can't stay in front of his guy unless it's to gamble for a steal.

Just a matter of time until this becomes a Melo thread.

JR actually plays defense and they both are career chuckers. I will take JR.

Yup, Jamal's best season as a pro pretty much. Woody has a magic touch with these type of players. Woodson was a shooting guard as a pro, so I guess he can relate to them easier.

always liked Crawford. Good kid, played hard... could be a decent defender if pushed. JR has been great.

In a vacuum I would pick Crawford because when Shump comes back I think he brings most everything JR does and Crawford is a better all around defensive player. Much rather have Lee back who is playing great and GS is a very solid team if we could bring back any Knick from that era I would be DL

Im cool with JR. He's earned a long leash with me through pure effort. Guys like that you can go to war with. He's the right fit for this group.

Both and it would have happened if we had a little bit more money to spend.

I firmly believe Eddy Curry would be a great addition to this squad, if he could only be backed up by Jerome James. He's a much better all around defender than Tyson and this duo would bring intangibles that you just can't get out of Chandler/Wallace.

I'd take Anthony Randolph over anyone on this squad, except for Jeremy Lin, if we could possibly get him back as well.

Lastly, Chris Duhon/Marbles would be a vast upgrade over any back court we could field at this point.

And imagine Larry Brown/IT coaching this new group!

Anyone for wanting Channing Frye back?

I love what J.R Smith brings to the team, but as of right now I'd have to give Crawford the upper hand. He's averaging less minutes but yet averaging more points when compared to J.R. 17.1 points to JR's 13.8. A FG% of .433 for Crawford when compared to .392% from J.R Smith.

We all know defense is a huge aspect of the game but in regards to the 6th man of the year award it's usually due to scoring rate. Crawford has J.R Smith beat here.

Thankful for J.R Smith though. One of the best 6th men off the bench in the game today. Crawford being the (potentially) front runner for the award doesn't change that either.

Crawford probably deserves to win it this year but I'd rather have JR... he might not score as well as Crawford but JR can also impact the game on defense (as noted) as well as the occasional big rebound game. JR is a better fit on this team
