To be fair to Nets fans, Knicks are the best team in the NBA, they tried their best.

What's sad about this New Jersey (I mean Brooklyn) fan base, is... I read a gameday thread on a Nets forum and the thread title was "Brooklyn vs. Manhattan". They don't understand... They just don't get it... The Nets only play in Brooklyn but the Knicks are home and belong to all five Boroughs. On our chest (jerseys) it clearly states 'NEW YORK'. Theirs read "Brooklyn". Our name has always been (and will always be) NEW YORK Knicks.

They just don't understand, the Nets can never (and will never) be NEW YORK. Even if the Nets win 20 championships, the Knicks will still be New York's team. You can build a brand new arena, but it will never be Madison Square Garden ala the World's Most Famous Arena. Players such as Jordan used to get the chills once walking into M.S.G. And Brooklyn will never be Manhattan either ala the heart of New York City.

The Knicks will never move to NJ and become the Trenton Knicks. Too much history here. The same can not be said for that Nets franchise... Not the KNICKS.

You know what....I've been reevaluating my feeling on the Nets. Took me a while but, now I see the irony of my supporting all New York teams in the past (jets, giants, yanks & mets) but, I chose to hate on the Nets. They aren't Jersey's team anymore but, another New York team. So, for now on, I will support the Nets but, the Knicks are my team. There is a difference between supporting a team and being a fan of it.

Having another NBA team will only help bring more revenue into the state which, is a good thing so, big ups to BK.
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Are they really?? Just because a Russian Bruce Wayne moved them? If the guy did it with class MAYBE I can accept them. But the way they moved was classless. Their marketing screams "we are trying to hard". Marketing does NOT get people to invest in you emotionally. Perform. Build a legacy don't artificially produce it. What are these Brooklyn fans cheering for? The name on the front of the jersey? Guess what? Brooklyn is marketing itself as NY's team. A replacement for the Knicks. Brooklyn pride my ass. They are not the Brooklyn Nets. The are the wannabe New York Knicks.

Boy did the Nets make a strategic mistake sitting Blatche for the entire 2nd Q. We could not check him--if he played 44 minutes he wouldve had 34-36 and they might just have won. Hes a tough check for the Knicks.

Im this way with the Jets (Giants fans first). I grew up a big blue fan but I always liked watching those Jets teams of the 80s. Ken Obrien, Al Toon, Gastineau, Freeman McNeel. I watch about half the games and hope they do well, but just cant muster and emotional attachment. Im Yanks/Gints/Knicks and thats pretty much it.

Nice to see the Nets get beat. That team presents some problems for us

yup, he was pretty much doing whatever he wanted out there. There is a good reason why Nets fans have been calling for Avery's head. I think he'd be best as a defensive coach. That or he needs to hire an offensive coordinator.

Classless isnt the right word Joe. If anyone does some deep down research, the way they built that arena was illegal in every way, shape and form. They actually threw people outta their homes and had Brooklyn claim eminnant domain over the homes that people had in brooklyn. The russian paid under the table to the pols for the land. The pols wanted a team in brooklyn so bad ,thinking that they would generate money for brooklyn that they forgot how they affected peoples lives. They uprooted a whole neighborhood. MAYBE that is the reason why there are more Knicks fans at a nyets game than nyets fans. A poster on another thread,I forgot who,was at the game last nite and said there went 80% Knicks fans there,IN THE nyets ARENA. NO ONE was relocated, thrown outta their home etc... when THE WORLDS MOST FAMOUS ARENA,THE EFFING MECCA OF BASKETBALL WAS BUILT.

Im curious why the garden is "the mecca"? Knicks lifetime record is under .500

College ball has been irrelevant in NYC since the 50's with the exception of St Johns in the 80's.

Knicks have not won in 40 years.

Its the most famous arena because MSG in some form has existed for over 100 years and NYC is the biggest in the country!

Nets put "Brooklyn" on their jersey's. They are not proclaiming to be NY's team. their ticket sales are up 500% and we are 1-1 for the season with them.

They don't have a 60 year history and moved to rebrand and build a new identity. Knicks have theirs, Nets are finding theirs.

They are a financial success thus far.

They don't know how to finish games yet. If they did they'd be 2-0.

Would that have changed anything regarding their marketing plan, ticket sales, or tv revenue today?

Does this make me a Net fan or just someone who recognizes what a financial gain it is to the russian and for NYC?

The Rivalry is good thing and Im enjoying the hell out of it.

I agree with Durzo, I can support the Nets. Im about NY. if the Knicks don't win and the Nets go on I'd rather a team win from NY than miami, or boston, or philly, or LA, etc.........

No matter how you slice it, the Nets are an Atlantic division rival of the New York Knicks.

Enjoy rooting and/or supporting our division rivals... lol.

A Knicks fan supporting the Nets is the same as a Jets fan supporting the Bills. It doesn't happen. AFC East (division) rivals.

Russian Batman probably kills the Villain for taking a hostage and the Hostage for being so weak they were taken.

by that logic, Dolan should have killed the Knicks fanbase. We don't support a team because of who the owner is. Sure there was some tastelessness from that side, but it doesn't discount the benefit such a team brings to the state. New York will benefit from the increased revenue and to be honest, Jersey didn't deserve a team. If you couldn't support the Jason Kidd led Nets they you shouldn't have a team.

Doesn't matter, still a New York franchise. The Jets and Bills may play in different cities but then again, the Knicks and Nets now play in different Boroughs. Still DIVISION RIVALS.

Also, the Mets vs Yankees? AL East vs NL East. Giants vs Jets? AFC East vs NFC East.

Since when is it o.k (in sports) to SUPPORT A DIVISION RIVAL?!?

Laughable.

Not questioning anyone's loyality. But, if you're supporting a division rival? Well, then, your loyality deserves to be questioned.

The Nets are a division rival, are they not? I know Melo and the rest of our Knicks consider them to be division rivals. By supporting the Nets, you're supporting a division rival... Are you not?

For a Knicks fan to support the Nets is just as bad as a Knicks fan supporting the Boston Celtics and/or Toronto Raptors ala Atlantic Division Rivals.
