We Must Protect This House Music

Bootleg Alert: blk exec - This team has flaws...just like every NBA team. Our main flaw is not SG, old age, etc....It's dumb azz Knick fans that always find something to complain about. Top team in the East, undefeated at home. Best team any Knick fan has ever seen or heard since the 70's. The thing this thread is good for, is to invite other fans to spread their negative cancer.

Regardless of this team blowing out Miami twice by 20, winning tough games while shooting under 40%....

Did we have enough men for a layup line last night? Sheed out. Camby out. Amar'e out, but close to creating an inevitable (cough) drama. Shump out for as long as he needs to be 100 per cent rock steady. Melo in stitches. Felton's hand throbbing. Jason Kidd with a swollen dome. JR Smith in a slump.

What happens? All they do is win. 15-5 has a nice symmetry to it. For those keeping score, about two decades since we have been 10 games over .500. Say it with me. Fifteen and five. Sounds so good, don;t you agree?

15-5

Now the good news. We can be better. Mike Woodson knows this. He is still auditioning. Note Raymond Felton stiing for a majority of the fourth quarter, only to be inserted with about 2 minutes remaining. Was it punishment or a message delivered the old-fashioned way? You Suck. You Sit. In this case, suckitude is a temporary thing that every player experiences from time to time. Even the superstars.

JR Smith will drive us crazy. So did John Starks. We still love the baseline lefthanded dunk over 3 Bulls. Raymond Felton will NEVER play beautiful basketball. Pit bulls are not interested in beauty contests. They live to tear you to pieces and get the damn bone. Melo will never be Lebron. Cool. Now go get me my 30 points the way you know how, in the clutch. Sheed WILL get a technical. So did Red Auerbach. The Celtics use his acting to fuel furious rallies. "Ball don't lie." Neither does the Boston Garden ceiling.

In past years the Knicks flaws created controversy, juicy headlines and locker room rumors of dissent. This season, mental mistakes are rewarded with time on the pine, watching your running buddies have all the fun. Amar'e wants to be on the court for one reason - he wants to apologize for last season and fulfill his prophecy that, "the Knicks are back!"

We will get banged around, harassed on the road and doubted all season. Cool. Meanwhile, Mike Woodson is not happy.

Isn't winning grand?

Question - should we be excited about Amar'e Stoudemire's return?

Answer - Absolutely! Remember, Amar'e trained with Hakeem Olujawon this past offseason and may be able to beast with his back to the basket, which would fill an immediate need.

Agreed.

This team is still a work in progress, and we've seen far from the finished product.

It will look vastly different once Amare and Shumpert are back.

Bootleg accepted......It feels good to read some positive threads for once. And you said it all, don't need to repeat....But we are learning on the fly. So every game is not going to be pretty. But I love how Woodson is coaching this team. Everybody will be held accountable, regardless of your pay check. Thats the kind of coach you need to win......

Captain Kidd

This sounds like te perfect role model for an NBA point guard who specializes in steals:

Captain William Kidd (1645-1701) was either one of the most notorious pirates in the history of the world or one of its most unjustly vilified and prosecuted privateers in an age typified by the rationalisation of empire. Despite the legends and fiction surrounding this character, his actual career was punctuated by only a handful of skirmishes followed by a desperate quest to clear his name. Kidd returned to New York City, after learning that he was a wanted pirate, and that several English men-of-war were searching for him. Realizing that the Adventure Prize was a marked vessel, he cached it in the Caribbean Sea and continued toward New York aboard a sloop. He deposited some of his treasure on Gardiners Island, hoping to use his knowledge of its location as a bargaining tool. - Wikipedia

You cannot make this stuff up. Bargaining tool? As in, I'd rather not play in New Jersey? Classic.

“(Jason Kidd) is the difference-maker. You know the right thing is going to happen.” - Steve Novak

The influence of Kidd is starting to impact Pablo Prigioni, who is patterning his game accordingly.

“[It’s] his veteran leadership, his savvy coming down stretches of the games.” - Tyson Chandler

Time outs? We don't need no steenkin' time outs!

“It’s huge because he trusts me coming down the stretch. He told me, ‘Let’s play through you. Coach said he wanted to play through Melo and Melo was like, ‘No, I want to play through Jason.’ That’s the greatest compliment a teammate can give.” - Jason Kidd

This is a revealing and remarkable statement from inside the huddle. First, did my eyes deceive me, or did Carmelo defer to the Kidd leadership? Second, the idea that Mike Woodson can follow input from his players is a huge sign of respect. Extra large. Veterans love that. Vets will play with added purpose because they have ownership of the strategy. Responsibility is a wonderful thing.

“It was the fourth game for us in five nights. We stayed with it, played smart and at the end hit big shots. It was obviously the difference.” - Steve Novak

Tenacity.

Knicks look good. Nice to start the season with a backcourt of Felton playing the best ball of his career and Jason Kidd. Kinda better than Landry Fields and Toney Douglas isnt it? But its all Melo and coaching right?

Knicks have a style of play that wins in the NBA. We have a couple guys having career years. We have a lean on go-to scorer. We have a defensive anchor in the middle. We have fresh legs in the queue with Shump and Amare. We have veteran role players that know how to cover for other's mistakes and weaknesses. We have chemistry. We have health.

To bad Knick fans dont know what to do with themselves. This used to be the team EVERY year for like a decade plus. This is how its supposed to be. Thanks you Donnie first and Glen the most for getting it right.

This team can definatly get to the finals. Looking forward to seeing what they are made of

That's a really great quote from Melo inside the huddle. It's great to see him saying things like that. This team has what it takes. We just have to stay healthy. And when someone's out, next man up. I'm starting to really love this team. JR scares the hell out of me though. He's our weakest link, but can easily be our one of our biggest strengths is he plays like he did to start the season.

Answer - Absolutely! Remember, Amar'e trained with Hakeem Olujawon this past offseason and may be able to beast with his back to the basket, which would fill an immediate need.

Felton and Kidd will make Amare look very, very good. Guy will be getting some of the easiest looks you can get. Saw him working out and dude can still play above the rim, looked fast and as always in great shape.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Amar'e is going to have a great year and the Knicks will be EVEN BETTER than they are now. I could care less whether Amar'e starts or comes off the bench. All that matters is that Amar'e will provide more consistent scoring, more boards, more blocks and more trips to the ft line. We should also see less Rasheed chucking up bricks.

I prefer Sheeds defense over Amari. I just hold the old Amari took some notes from Sheed on defense. Sheed is a huge plus defending and rebounding in the paint.....We need Amari to do the same, and we are straight. But thats asking a lot from the old Amari....Can't wait to see the new revised version, with low post moves and defense. One more thing is that Sheed has better defensive IQ, so that helps with any short comings do to his age.

I don't think Sheed really gets enough minutes where his defense would trump what Amar'e brings to the table. Sheed has had stretches of good and bad play.

I saw him going through drills yesterday before the game started. He was working on some of the moves he learned from Hakeem and seemed to be spinning and moving very well. Did anyone here go to the game yesterday?

I agree that this team hasn't peaked yet. They still have some issues during stretches but when we get Amar'e and then Shump that increases the talent level again and adds 2 more finishers with skills to create shots as well. Woody will have to help them blend into what the team is doing and I trust that he will. With Kidd, Felton and Prigs running the show that should help STAT and Shump a lot to get comfortable as they work back into form. Really like the mental toughness of this team from top to bottom. I can't remember a time when I actually liked every single player on the roster. Usually there's at least one if not more players that I couldn't stand on the team. This year I really have a good feeling about these guys.

Man that's some great growth on Melo's part and shows how great Jason Kidd is and how his peers perceive him. Hated Jason Kidd on the other side but on our team what a bonus to have on your team. Even at 50% of his prime speed he thinks 200% faster than other players.

I will always say I would take jason Kidd over Steve nash
